11_oz Military Serge Western Shirt

Cut from 11oz Japanese serge, this is a tough, heavyweight version of our traditional western shirt that leans into the military associations of the fabric. Defined by a sturdy, ridged twill weave, serge fabrics are renowned for their strength and durability, and are commonly found in historical military uniforms and apparel. While developing this particular serge, Shinichi Haraki found inspiration in a cloth used for the classic French military M-47 cargo pants from the 1950s — a high-density cotton serge that is both hefty and rugged, while still offering comfort and breathability for everyday wear.

Bearing all the hallmarks of our western cut, this shirt features traditional western-style yokes and heavy-duty snap fastenings. Seen here in brown with tonal stitching, and finished with contrasting pearl snaps and internal yellow bobbin thread for a subtle splash of colour.
