Leather Care

Shell Cordovan

- Favoured by high-end shoemakers, Shell Cordovan is a premium horsehide leather known for its smooth texture, durability, and ability to develop a rich patina. It’s sourced from the tight-knit, fibrous shell layer on the horse's rump, giving the leather its smooth surface, strength and resistance to creasing

- Due to it’s smooth surface, Shell Cordovan is prone to scratching — be mindful of sharp objects

- This type of leather already contains a high liquor content impregnated during the tanning process. It is important not to use too much polish when caring for your cordovan. We advise conditioning the leather very occasionally to prevent cracking, applying a small amount of leather conditioner or a specialised Shell Cordovan cream. Be careful not to over-condition, as this will result in a build-up of wax that will scratch easily, attract dirt and leave unsightly creases

- To clean Shell Cordovan, use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe off dust and dirt. Regularly buff the surface with a soft cloth if you wish to maintain its shine. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap. Always avoid soaking the leather. If it does get wet, blot the leather dry with a cloth and leave to air dry naturally — never dry with a heater or hairdryer
