OUR CORE CUTS

Over the years, we’ve developed a range of jeans and other pants to suit different body shapes and to work with your individual choice of style. We started with our original ‘signature’ straight cut, and now include bootcut, slim, super-slim and tapered silhouettes. None of our cuts are extreme, but rather we have developed a classic range of great-looking jeans and pants, beautifully constructed from superb Japanese denim and other fabrics.

Below can be found an overview of our core cuts, a more in-depth comparison to the different cuts, can be found on the link below.

Slim

THE 555 CUT - MEDIUM-HIGH RISE, SLIM CUT

While far from a “skinny” fit, the 555 style offers the slimmest-fitting jeans in the Iron Heart lineup. Designed to be slender yet comfortable, our 555 jeans feature a higher rise than the 634 and 666 models, with a much slimmer, more fitted profile through the leg.

This creates a sleek silhouette without compromising ease of movement—perfect for those seeking modern slim styling with the rugged durability of our traditional Japanese denim.

SLIM STRAIGHT

THE 666 CUT - LOW-MEDIUM RISE, SLIM STRAIGHT CUT

Known around these parts as “the Devil’s fit”, the 666 style was developed to provide the traditional straight-leg styling of our original 634 cut, but offer a slightly more slim-fitting silhouette.

Therefore, it retains a similar low/medium rise and subtle leg taper, but with a generally slimmer profile throughout. Blending heritage and contemporary inspiration, the 666 is one of our most versatile cuts for most body types.

Straight

THE 634 CUT - MEDIUM RISE, STRAIGHT CUT

Our 634 style is where the Iron Heart story began, the first cut that Shinichi Haraki designed when he founded the brand over two decades ago. Inspired by the legendary "Big E" 1966 Levi's 501, our 634 cut provides a medium rise and traditional straight styling, with only the gentlest of tapers through the leg. Offering the widest hem opening of all our core cuts, 634 jeans are ideal for styling with most footwear, including more bulky engineer and work boots.

Why 634? Unlike many of his contemporaries—who at the time were naming their models with obvious references to the Levi’s 501—Haraki-san wanted to create an identity for his first Iron Heart model that honoured its Japanese heritage and heavyweight construction. The numbers 6-3-4 were chosen in tribute to the legendary samurai and philosopher Miyamoto Musashi, as, when spoken in an alternative Japanese pronunciation, these digits form the syllables “mu-sa-shi.” Musashi, a symbol of Japanese history and resilience, embodied the strength and spirit Haraki-san sought to reflect in his jeans—and so, the first IH-634 model was born.

SLIM TAPERED

THE 777 CUT - LOW RISE, SLIM TAPERED CUT

Featuring the lowest rise of all the Iron Heart core cuts, our 777 style is ideal for those who prefer their jeans to sit lower on the hips. With a similar thigh profile to the 666, this cut offers a more pronounced taper from knee to hem, creating a modern silhouette perfect for styling with sneakers or casual boots."

RELAXED TAPERED

THE 888 CUT - HIGH RISE, RELAXED TAPERED CUT

Need a little more room in the seat and thighs? The 888 could be the perfect cut for you.

Designed for those seeking a more relaxed fit in the top block while maintaining a contemporary, fitted profile, our 888 jeans feature a higher rise than most of our core styles—combining the roomy thigh of the 634 with the pronounced knee-to-hem taper of the 777.

Vintage Tapered

THE 1955 CUT - HIGH RISE, VINTAGE TAPERED CUT

Just like the 634, this style is loosely based on a classic Levi's 501 cut—but in this case, it’s the much-coveted version from, you guessed it, 1955. Compared to the 634 straight cut, this one features a much higher rise and a fuller top block, with a bit more taper from the knee to the hem—so it actually has more in common with the 888.

From modern casual to heritage styling, this versatile cut is ideal for anyone who prefers a higher-waisted jean with a vintage silhouette, without getting too loose or baggy.
