1955S - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

Hey @Lost Ronin — welcome! Everything Yannis said about measuring and the charts is totally spot on. After a while you’ll get an idea of what sizes you GENERALLY wear in certain cuts / shirts etc but there are ALWAYS exceptions. So yep, chart chart chart.
The main thing I wanted to ask, though: have you looked at the 888? That’s often the choice for peeps with larger thighs or generally more athletic builds. The 1955s are also a totally good choice for that, but they’ve been out of stock for a while and afaik, they’re not due anytime soon. Giles has even mentioned discontinuing them, I think?
All that said, they’ve always seemed appealing to me, and I’ve been waiting for a while to see a restock. So I’m with ya there, but if you get impatient, maybe see if the 888 could work.
And btw, congrats on the weight loss! Enjoy your badass denim reward!
Thanks for the information. I'll definitely look at the 888s as well. I was unaware they're out of stock. I hadn't gotten that far just yet. Nothing wrong with more than one pair of IH Denim.
Here on Iron Heart America site they're listed as continuous production, yet they're out of stock at the moment.
I'll have to be patient and check back. -
@Lost Ronin @popvulture is correct in that there are no plans or production runs in place for the 1955S at the moment. The IH-888S-21 is due very soon so definitely worth a shot!

I think once we get the current production bottlenecks sorted out, we will start making the 1955 again. The key problem is that very few retailers take the 1955, so the total order into Japan is always small, and when we are overloading the workshops, small runs cause massive issues…..

thanks @Giles - this is great news - this is a great cut for those of us with a tall frame but regular leg length and some thigh “power”. I’ve looked around a lot and just couldn’t find a credible alternative from other brands.

or if one of the size 35 runs a bit large like 35.5 ish

Did you see The Shop Vancouver just did a run of these in slubby denim? Not sure if they have any in your size but worth asking.

I checked them out and not a fan of the Slubby look . Thank you for sending me down that path though as it would have been an excellent option .
will try an 888 cut soon and if the 1955 restock will more than likely be forced to get them . loving my IH products and wished i found them years ago.

Love the 1955-UHR and am open to trying it in another denim. Also considering the 888. I’d guess there are some similarities between these cuts.

Also considering the 888 during the 1955’s absence. Have any of you 1955 guys tried the 888, and what was/is your experience?
thanks - Bill

I have both cuts. So I think the main difference between the 1955 and the 888 is the front rise measurement. I also think all dimensions in the other areas are a little bigger on the 1955s. The 1955s are the most comfortable pair of jeans I own, a combination of the 21oz and the extra room.
1955 on left, 888 on right, both 21oz -
thanks @atm23 !

For me, the major difference between the two is the knee measurements. The 1955S is my favorite cut, but the 888 is uncomfortable at the lower thigh level.

thanks @JDelage , based on your and @atm23 ’s replies, my gut feeling is to hold out for a restock of 1955S and/or 1955S-OD - “form follows function” and “good things come to those who wait”!

I bought a couple pair at The Shop Vancouver, I love the fit of these and looking forward to a restock. I will be stocking up.

I want to try this model. I have 888 25oz. Can someone tell me 1955 from 888 will be very different in landing?
-
I’ll second @sabergirl’s post above. I have 1955S and 888S-14ii - 1955 is about an inch higher on the waist and there is definitely more room in the knee - it’s a more “old skool” cut, a bit baggier and more relaxed, 888 has a slightly smarter, more fitted look - ymmv …
