Freenote Cloth

@Max-Power I have the regular fabric in the oak color. It’s definitely not a winter jacket. If you wear it with a flannel underneath, it’s pretty decently warm. But with just a tshirt, it’s basically a light jacket
-
@Max-Power I have the shearling lined RJ2 and it’s crazy warm. My favorite garment ever. I’m a large in all my UHFs, IH shirts and IH jackets. I took a medium in my RJ2
I also had the waxed rider. It’s not very warm, but has a nice weight to it. I bought a large in that but always felt it was a bit too big. Worked great with a UHF under but I think a medium would have been a better fit.
-
Thank you guys! I went with the 20oz blanket lined Version. It should be warm enough with an UHF on our normal winter days and with just a tee make a good fall jacket. And I still have plenty of leather and the deck coat to switch.
I went with this exact model, I'm curious to see the exact colour. Will give an update when I get it.
Again, thanks for the help and insight!

@Mizmazzle - would love the shearling RJ-2 in 20 oz denim. Looks ace on you. I assume you would recommend it? Looks warm as hell. Freenote don’t have any but haven’t looked to see if anyone else does (ideally UK). If I do eventually track one down, I assume from what you say that if I am a small/medium in IH jackets then a small in this?
-
So, here it is. First I have to say the my shopping experience with the rugged society was excellent, super fast shipping and packaging!
Well, for the jacket itself I'm fully blown away. It's softer and less thick than I expected, maybe also less warm. The fit is fantastic with a Tee, not sure if I can layer up for winter though. Anyway, I love it and will most likely get a lighter version in spring.
Edit: I can layer an UHF underneath. Snugly but not uncomfortably.
It's the 20oz wool blanket version in tobacco, which is more olive than on the 10oz version apparently.

@Max-Power nice dude! Looks great on you. That waxed canvas loosens up quite a bit too and greatly improves drape. What do you think of the styling, build quality, etc. ?
-
Thank you! I love it, im so impressed by the build quality that I'm looking to get the olive 10 Oz too. I've worn it outside today with just a tee and it was warm yet breathable.

@Max-Power Growing up quick!!
-
Indeed, it's her 6th birthday next week!
-
@Max-Power Too fast...Mine are 9 and 13 (going on 14).
-
@Max-Power that almost looks like the oak color. It looks great. Everything I’ve gotten from Freenote is fantastic
-
@Choko it says tobacco but it's really in between the olive, oak and tobacco.
-
Does anyone have insight/opinion on the freenote rj2 shearling jacket or the feeenote mariner jacket vs the ih n1 deck jackets? I am leaning towards the ih but the rj2 looks amazing as well
-
@Max-Power brilliant jacket, congratulations!
I’d say it looks exactly the same as my Oak. I also have the tobacco and it’s much lighter in color.
Regardless, it looks great on you. Hope you enjoy it.
-
Here are the two colors side by side just for reference.
-
Thank you! I always thought it looks more like the oak Version

@pmadison95 the RJ2 shearling is my favorite jacket of all time. I don’t own an IH N1 but have tried them on…also a damn fine jacket. Since I have the RJ2 I’ve put off buying the N1. I’m sure I’ll own one one day, but I’m so in love with the RJ2 and they fill the same space, I don’t see the need to get one anytime soon. Plus the RJ2 is made of a really nice, 20oz denim that fades quite nicely. It has shearling and satin lined pockets that are hands down the absolute best pocket experience in cold temps you could imagine!!
My only two constructive points for the RJ2 (and I’ve shared them with Matt of Freenote) are that they need to use a 2 way zipper on this tank of a jacket. Also, some type of collar snap closure for when the collar is flipped up on the coldest days would be a game changer.
-
@Mizmazzle I agree with on the two way zipper, especially on these heavy weight jackets …
One you have one with it, it’s hard to go back.
-
@Mizmazzle thank you for the info on your experience with the RJ-2. I am still undecided for now. I would just buy both but that seems excessive and my wife would not be impressed lol.
