21oz Shinayaka Selvedge Denim

@neph93 are those actual abrasions that could get holes in the honeycomb? or have they simply lost their dye all the way to the white cotton?
I think it is dirt

These look 'bruised' like the regular 21oz does when it starts to show some evo.

When they have received their first wash I’ll do a full comparison, but up until now the only difference is a very slight colour variation caused by the darker weft and the fact that creases take a little longer to form due to the stretchiness. Otherwise they behave just like 21oz when it comes to evo.

So the demolition is nearly complete and I the jeans were dusty af. I took them home and did a quick 40C wash.
Pre wash they looked like this:
Post wash pics to come but decent light is hard to come by.
I will say this, they are just as stubborn as the standard 21oz. The “bruising” @organisys mentioned is there, albeit subtle in its manifestation. There is light fading at the whiskers and honeycombs, and more marked fading at the abrasion points
They returned to super snugness after the wash but have been quicker to relax than they were when I first got them. Two days in they are close fitting but super comfy.
The creases and combs came back sharply and in precisely the same place after the wash, so they are ready for more abuse.

I'm stoked for the 777 version of these to drop !
If you ever change your mind about that shirt I will take it from you in a heartbeat just saying

These look great @neph93 - are they stretchy enough to allow you to do a full squat or lunge? Just curious…

They are for sure. I can provide pictorial evidence at a later date. But I wore them for many sessions of highly physical house renovations and found them to be excellemt work pants. They tolerated protruding nails, crowbars, ladder work and manhandling 50 cubic metres of crap out of the house.
@BD81 it is touch and go but I’m sticking with it [emoji1]

It looks like it fits you damn near perfect! I'm going to have to wait for the restock…
Hopefully it's not to close to the release of the 777 - Shinayaka lol

They are looking great @neph93 … just the thing I need sat at my desk typing :o
looking forward to seeing you do a full yoga stretch session in these
-
definitely interested in this.

The Shinayaka sample got rested in mid December due to my rapidly expanding waistline and thighs. My post xmas diet has started to take effect however and they are back in business. Really enjoyed being able to wear them again and the comfort that little bit of stretch affords.
Keep on finding small examples of evo and wear from their stint as demolition pants… this was left by a portruding nail. They are pretty damn tough.
-
Are they super comfortable? I am curious about how much give these have.
-
@neph93 Have they changed much measurement wise since you got them?
Depending on measurements I might try the 555 instead of the 888 when this drops
-
@Filthy they are very comfortable indeed. All the soft heaviness of the standard 21oz, but with extra flex. My first pair of IH from Gosport were 555's with starting dims similar to these. I was a little heavier then than I am now, and tbh they were on the small side for a long while and it took weight loss plus stretch for them to get close to being comfy. Given that I'm carrying about 6 pounds over my ideal weight I can still wear these with no issues. No restriction of movement, no biting waistband.
@spitfiredealer I have been a little lax about documenting changes in size, so this is based on how they feel, but I would say they stretch out slowly. You get some of the stretch of regular denim but the elastic means is is retarded. This means they hold their shape really well and the stretch of the elastic itself does the work. I'll measure them pre and post wash next time they need to go in the machine.

That's good to know. Thanks a lot.

Thanks neph. Are the thighs smaller than what you would normally go for on a non stretch pair?
For instance if I need a minimum of 12.5” on normal
21oz what could I get away with in this denim?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The thighs and knee on these are at the absolute lower limit of what I’d buy in regular denim. In fact, seeing as this is the 555 I probably wouldn’t have bought these with the dims. The stretch means what would have been restrictive or uncomfortable becomes absolutely doable.

it's going to be a bit strange trying to figure out sizing on these. When I am usually deciding I know mostly that I can get some stretch if needed. So if things are a bit tight to start it's ok they will stretch out and stay stretched ( until a wash). With these I am worried they will always spring back to their original dimensions and look tight.

I agree with @sabergirl The universe is expanding. I’ve been the same weight for 20 years but now prefer 30 or 31” to my initial 28” projects. The stretch is not the issue here. It’s the flexibility. Same size, more comfort
