IH-526PJ - 21oz Selvedge Denim Modified Type III Jacket - Indigo
-
Here’s an XXL 526PJ - just purchased last month (I love this jacket :)) — I returned the XXXL because it was too big all over.
Here’s an XXXL IHJ-69 corduroy in black — I returned the XXL because it was too tight in the chest and waist. Great jacket too!
The point is you need to try them on to be sure.

Perfect fit on the 526 @GBurke !

That looks like a good fit, @GBurke
Thanks for the tips, too. I am trying to find a way around ordering two (or more!) sizes and sending one back. Postage is steep here. I cannot see another way around it, though, what with it not being possible to try on anything locally.

You can buy return postage from us for USD20:

With a t-shirt and an Iron Heart flannel shirt:
108cm chest
48cm shouldersSo, it looks like an XXL will be the right choice for my shoulders and will give a 3" clearance in the chest, much like my old Levi's jacket.
I shall give it a punt. With return postage at £16, not such a brutal fee to send it back if it does not fit.

@JimBobTTD go for it! Post some photos when you get your jacket, too. I’d love to see them.

@JimBobTTD you've made the right choice with the XXL in my opinion.

Annoyingly, something went wrong at UPS's warehouse in Denmark last night and the jacket was not delivered today. It will be here by end of play on Tuesday. Another five days! I shall post photos.

It has arrived! And on a Sunday, no less.
The fit is very nice indeed. I have tried it on with a t-shirt, shirt and hoody underneath - it gets cold in Sweden, and this is the yardstick. If it is too tight for that, it can only be used in the short period of early autumn and mid/late spring. It fits perfectly in the shoulder and chest. The length is excellent.
The sleeves are a bit on the long side, though…even with a bit of movement upwards when the elbow creases come in, they are long and leave just the tips of my fingers peeking out.
Photos when I can!

@JimBobTTD Great news. As a fellow Brit living in Scandi-land I understand the need for flexibilty and warmth in your outerwear. After my first type III I came to the decision that the way forward was multiple jackets. Watch out for that
When it comes to sleeve length, unless you have long arms yourself then a bit of excess at the wrist is the norm. It’s an often repeated point but Haraki-San prefers longer arms on jackets so that they still cover the wrists when arms are stretched out from the body. This is the position of a motorcycle rider when holding the handlebars of the bike.
I flip the cuff of nearly all my IH jackets.

@neph93 you are right, arm length gets mentioned a lot, by me also. I'd love to take a straw poll of just how many IH customers ride motorbikes compared to those that don't. The practical intentions of this clothing has been outshadowed by the quality and aesthetic that it's loyal customers love, I'd fancy!

In Japan, pretty much all of them. Rest of the world less so. But that isn’t the point, the point is the designer wants them that way. And as you say, the T-Rex’s amongst us generally find that the plus points with IH gear far outweigh an inch too much on the sleeves.
Also @Alex has gorilla arms [emoji1]

This ^^^^
I love love love the longer sleeve length on IH tees. I'm a bit on the gorilla arm side so it works…plus it's much easier to get away with a shirt that has longer sleeve lengths than too short. Nothing worse than sleeves that are too short.

Fit pics!
I shall take it out on a spin on the hog* this morning.
Not really. It's a 49cc moped.
