Watched this last night, super fun if you're into this kinda thang

I just watched Hillbilly Elegy. Holy crap what a depressing movie. The story really hits close to home… but my mom wasn't in bad shape, my dad was. It was uncomfortable for me to watch because the last time I saw my dad he was in bad shape, and I left and never saw him again...
But at least the movie has a happy ending. I guess the book and movie were supposed to be inspirational, that no matter what your circumstances or family life was, you can have a happy ending if you try your best.

I was very cynical when I first heard about HBO Max. But I was quite surprised to see how many excellent movies they have on there. I initially got it so I could watch a couple things with my friend and to watch the documentary about the NXIVM sex cult.
They have every single Alien movie, Prometheus, AVP, tons of old samurai movies, like every Godzilla movie, I could go on and on. It's not all filler garbage like a few of the other ones I've had. Highly recommended. It's worth it just for the ability to watch every South Park on demand.

I shortened this up to reflect my exact feelings about HBO Max

Greenland on Netflix. No Golden Glode winner, but pretty heart wrenching for a disaster movie, and frighteningly believeable.

After 30 years.
I watch Do the Right Thing again.
She's Gotta have it, also a great Spike Lee.

@Madame Buttonfly and I have just finished our 3ish weeks of culture marathon. 23 nights, 23 Marvel movies, in the order that the best Marvel geeks on Reddit recommend, looking forward to watching some shite now
Talking Marvel geeks, Paula has a spreadsheet if anyone is interested
-
Lol I’m in the same boat as you Ann. 23 movies is daunting. But I’m kinda digging that WandaVision series enough to consider doing the marathon.

Would be interested in said spreadsheet. My son is super in the last year has gotten super into Spiderman and Hulk. I haven't really kept up with the Marvel movies since the start of the Xmen movies and the Tobey Macquire Spiderman movies (hey, I've been busy). But now all of a sudden there have been a dozen Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, etc movies out since then (and a NEW spiderman and such?) Ugh. What can I say. I was raised on Superman and Batman, so…

@chrisjohnnick - here's the link to the recommendation on the best order to watch the 23 films:
https://www.amctheatres.com/amc-scene/the-best-way-to-rewatch-the-mcu
We really enjoyed them, although maybe spacing them out a bit more would lighten the "battle fatigue", when you watch the films back to back the fighting scenes, although amazing, can feel a bit repetitive! The Guardian of the Galaxy films were much better than I had expected.
Will PM you the spreadsheet!

That’s a great series to watch. Love the Moore ones
Drinking game to play: every time Bond gets a bit forceable with a lady you have to have a drink. In the early ones it’s remarkable how drunk you can get.

Fades to die for? Haha.
The horror movie streaming company Shudder's latest original film is called "Slaxx," and it follows the story of a pair of jeans that wants to kill people.

…Francis McDormand? If that's it I'll be watching that one soon, saw the trailer looks like a good one.
...my little Kimchi and I are going to watch 'LUCKY' with Harry Dean Stanton tomorrow night. Love Harry, RIP.

McDormand was really good in Nomadland.
Scathing look at 21st century States.
