where's the SAS when we need them in NSW…
-
@Snowy was thinking about asking you if you might have been in that area. it's definitely a shocking situation to hear of. i only hope that whoever's in charge acts much faster. delaying the situation is usually a bad idea and give an upper hand to those gunmen. how bad is the lockdown though?

The distances are exactly what they're reporting, about a 4 block radius blocked off, with most buildings in the CBD on full lock down, with banks totally closed, no traffic was allowed in today. Going to be a very long night for those in the building. tomorrow morning is going to be dangerous for those in there I'd say. Sleep dep will be kicking in.

It's all over the news in Germany
-
as soon as i turned channel 9 and 7 on for the evening news, it was all over and the live updates being shown. can't imagine those having to turn up to work tomorrow especially when the lockdown is extended till tomorrow morning..
@beautiful_FrEaK it's in germany too? i guess it's no small issue if something like this is broadcasted all the way in europe.

(Thanks for your thoughts BTW. I was wondering how many did/do know what was going on over this way today…)
Aweful Situation, wishing the best for the poor innocent people. Since its taken place in a Swiss Company we are delivered with an online newsticker and latest tweets over here. Hope special forces solve it without any harm for the innocent.
Problem with media is that too much information could play into the hands of the captors. Hope Police cut it where necessary.

so OK now I am a man apart…two days ago some stupid idiots set a whole district in Zurich under chaos, they destroyed lots of small businesses (some lost everything and/or suffered lots of damages before xmas), set cars on fire even destroyed a police station. luckily my girlfriend was not on the streets anymore as she lives close where the situation happened. man I am not amused...

I've had a big falling out with Yodel. I packed off a bunch of clothes in a box, amongst other things, to be sent North as I was travelling by bike. It was meant to arrive on Friday last week, as it was the 24 hour service.
It's still not here. I had a chat to their online service rep yesterday, and was promised it today. No sign yet…
The box arrived, with Yodel's 24 hour service being closer to 240 hours. Some damage to it, but being IH clothes I'm not too worried.
Nothing appears to be missing.

@davito well apparently to some people taking a selfie and showing their on scene is more important. this is appalling and it just leads me to another rant that i can't stand people being glued to their damn phone the whole time at a meal or over a conversation etc.
@Graeme well, at least it arrived safely. look on the bright side

Thanks @louisbosco - I'm thankful for the small mercies!
A delayed package is small beer compared to what's happening in Sydney. Should be in the First World Problems thread.

Aussie hostage situation and Belgian worker strike both on the news here. Maybe Americans do care about what happens in other countries after all?
