Hey!
the one i've been working on the most is the SR500… i got so close the other day but still no luck making it run. It's got to the point now where i'm not sure what to do. I personally think the carb needs cleaning but that's my very unprofessional opinion. It's definitely sparking but and it revs for a few seconds then cuts out. That's what makes me think it's the jets being clogged up... but i'm sure you'll have more insight than me.
You going to come down and see us?

it sounds like the jets ,you will have three a main , a needle and a pilot jet , take the bottom of the float bowl and spray it with carb cleaner it is better to take the carb right off as the jets screw in .
i am not going to be able to get down for the next month or so as .
next weekend its the trip out .
weekend after i am on holiday .
then i have the grandchildren
then i am off to japan .
let me do a bit more research and together we will get it sorted -
XPost from Glemseck 2015
@Aetas:Glemseck is so much more than sound.
It is a shark tank. Hope that IH Japan crew and Gosport will love it.

It's a Mikuni Carb but i'm not sure of the model exactly. @No.88
It's the standard for the SR500 i believe. I think i'm going to take @harley dave 's advise and clean the jets. From all the research i've done that seems to be the most likely culprit.Any more advise is always welcome though!

@Sam.
Just got a reply from my brother. (He's heavily into restoring old bikes). He also suggested first removing the carb and cleaning completely, & make sure the float is good.
He also suggests making sure the fuel is clean. (Possible debris in the tank?). Flow the fuel through some paper towel and see if it catches anything.
He also might think it could be the pilot system or slide valve in the carb, as the bike starts but then cuts out at low revs.
Is this an old bike, or is it being re-built?
