John Lofgren (Speedway)

Haha. just trying to help out man….Yes, I think the JL site was either relaunched or upgraded recently..
-
I do really appreciate it

Been really loving wearing the engineers (and jeans) again, now that the oppressive Texas heat is starting to relent a bit. As I think I mentioned a while back, I have a really high instep and for whatever reason the right boot was really hard to get on, so much that I had to poke a hole in a ziploc bag and put my foot through it to help slip the boot on, then tear out the bag… more than kinda wasteful. Anyway, been wearing them as much as possible in an effort to aggressively try to stretch out the leather, and it's finally worked. Plus the patina's starting to look pretty nice

Got these chukkas for when I have to wear a suit. How do they looked dressed down?
-
They look killer! I’ve thought about getting the red ones on more than a few occasions. Someday I’ll crack.
Re: fit, how’s the size compared to your Brannock size? You go a size down? I wear a 13 in “normal” shoes, so I’ve been curious how these run. The Lofgrens I have are all 12s, but for some reason I got the impression that these run maybe just a half size large.
-
Thanks! I'd actually say the opposite. I wear an 11 in all of his shoes and these are very tight. I actually took them to a cobbler to stretch them out. If you have narrow feet, though, you should be fine.
-
Ahhh, interesting. That's kinda good actually, because the last thing I need is an excuse to spend more money on boots ffs :D. Maybe one of these days if I make it out to the bay area, I can try some on at Standard & Strange.
Oh, and forgot to say — I really dig your place! Love the plants and the general look.

I'd ask Mari about the sizing. She's very helpful about that sort of thing. I wish I would've done that before taking the plunge. However, I took them to a cobbler for a stretching. Not only can you not notice they weren't stretched, but I wore them for almost 12 hours without any issues. (See pic.) Neil, from S & S suggested that, and it worked out. Honestly, the leather might just be very stiff. Neil said they are built on the same "last" as JL's engineer boots, and I wear an 11 in those and they fit famously.
Thank you about the house. I will let my wife know. All I do is pay for them.

Mari is the best! Really everyone is at that place. Definitely one of my very favorite stores.
Speaking of, is that the Ooe jacket they had not too long ago?
-
It is. Very lucky to get one. I've had several people dm trying to buy it. ???
-
Nice. She's supposed to let me know the next time they have some jeans coming in. Honestly I have too many pairs at the moment, to the point where I'm kinda afraid nothing's ever gonna get any kind of cool evo going on, but all the pics I've seen of the Ooes look so great. Plus the story of the company is rad. We'll see!
-
In the pic, I’m wearing all Ooe. I’ve had the jeans for almost a year. They have faded like vintage Levi’s.
-
Ha, damn… yeah those look rad, not surprised they're Ooes. I love that vintage style fade and I feel like it's pretty hard to find.

What model jeans?
I haven’t worn anything but Ooe jeans in the last 6-7 years. Their 01 and 03 cuts are just perfect for me. I had a bunch from when they still did custom orders.
I hope they’ll do another run of the 03 cut soon.Currently wearing a s2101xx from way back that I just didn’t get around to yet.
Edit: so u wear al John Lofgren boots in the same size? I have the m43 in a US11 and at first I thought I should’ve gone 10.5. But I’m happy I stuck with the 11 now, mostly because of the flat toe.
I am however considering the brogue boots and wondering if I should go down a half size or not…Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I have the combats, m43, and engineers, all in size 12. I normally wear a 13, but I’ve consistently gone a whole size down with Lofgrens. My feet are pretty big — sometimes 13s don’t even fit me, and my toes are pretty much right at the end of all my Lofgren 12s.

I love these boots. Just a couple of miles on them now. The leather is buttery soft and ages beautifully, although this shifter on the bike scuffs them quite fast.
Sizing can be tricky. In case it helps, the JL are a 10 (stamped inside). I wear a 9 in RW Iron Ranger. They have the same length, but the JL are certainly wider, which is good for me since the IR are rather narrow for my feet. Getting in these JL's however, is quite a struggle having a high arch.
Looking into some Mr Lou's. Anyone has both and could help with sizing? -
@Dmart, Ive both, in size 10.5. The Wescos are a E width. both feel about right for me.

Ok that’s good to hear, been curious about the Mr Lou sizing. I know the E runs more like a D but I was curious about length (I wear a 12 in Lofgren engineers).
@Dmart I’ve also got high arches and particularly my right boot was a major bitch to get on at first — I had to take em to a shoe guy to get stretched twice. After some determination though, they’re great now. Been wearing the shit out of em lately. And I say let the shifter scuff them up! They look better the more of a beating they get.
