Watches - another OCD problem
-
Exactly. I like stuff thats made to be abused. That hinderer is used as a prybar and screw driver just as much as a knife. Got to love overbuilt goods…

I suddenly have the urge for a watch from the 40s or 50s. I dont have a clue about old watches. Can anyone suggest a brand and model in the 5 to 700 usd range? 50s watch on a cordovan NATO strap… drool.

nameness aka the timekeeper,
what do you keep all those beauties in to keep correct time? i'm scared to invest in a good watch because of the upkeep involved, also, just my addictive personality, yikes.

Personally, I just let my watches run down, then wind and set them when I decide which one I'm wearing each day. It only takes a minute or two and just becomes part of the morning routine.
I have a winder that can accommodate 4 watches at a time, but frankly, that's too much effort for me.
If you're talking about maintenance and servicing, most watch manufacturers recommend a cleaning/check up every 3-4 years for automatics and manual winders. Of course, that's the recommendation; you can go a lot longer, especially if you rotate several pieces.
C'mon, Monday, join us over here in the watch fanatic crowd. You don't know the power of the Dark Side…

Just like denim, I'm new to watches. Just got this cheap Tissot 1853, not even sure if it's real. Was only like $60 off eBay. I think it's pretty and a small step up from the cheaper Timex I have. Can't imagine paying a few grand for a watch, but who knows. I like to dive head first into the shallow end. -
What Chris said. I let them run down. A good watch shouldn't require much upkeep.
PM me with your price range and I'll throw some stuff at you.

Yeah, I bought it to support them more than for the watch. Already gave it away.

Look like my Dagaz Tsunami Classic is shipping on Monday, which is about four months earlier than I expected! Can't wait to see it.
