IH-555S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo PREVIOUSLY IH-555-01
-
I realized today that these 555-01 are listed at "Back In" under new arrivals–-thank you for that, IH! AND that they are pretty much racing out the door. I would like to have another pair in XHS but 21oz, that is benchmark. So I was saving for something else but had to spring for these today because, well, others are noticing the same "better do it now". I also realized today that my car needs new tires and just spent the money on jeans. Ha!
They sold way faster than expected, we have another run in the works already

Think I might have to get a pair of these in the new year, availability permitting. My 777 14 just aren’t comfortable in the top block yet post first wash (after six months wear), and my 555-03s, soaked once, worn twice, are. I guess it’s the rise. I’ll persevere with the 777s, but I guess it’s finding your fit, right? The 777s were great pre wash, mind.

Exploring the cuts and working out sizing can be a struggle for sure. Finding the right one on your second attempt is pretty good going, and as you say preserving with near misses is always a good option. I'm currently wearing my IH-666-XHS which are five years old. They were always a little small on me and never the best fit, but having had numerous crotch repairs and being my work jeans for a couple of big, dirty projects they have been beaten in submission and are my favourite Sunday pair.

Hi , i found a pair of these in size tag 36 from an official retailer in Germany . I asked them to measure for me the waist size and they said to me that is 88 cm . The site here says that size 36 is 93 cm ( which is waht i am looking for). I know hat there are differences from pair to pair but isn't 5 cm an enormous difference ? Thanks.

All sorts of potential issues could explain this.
Firstly, as mentioned, there are some differences between models, although I wouldn't expect 5cm.
Secondly that retailer may well measure differently to IHUK. A small difference in measuring techniques can give quite big differences in results, for example, Self Edge stores and IHUK's measurements cannot be compared equally because of the differences in measuring routines.
Thirdly measurements can change quite dramatically between batches. If the store you are talking about has an older batch then this may explain it.
Of course it could be a combination of all of these things too.

It’ll almost certainly be differences in the techniques used to measure the waist, in my opinion.
My way of measuring the waist involves laying the jeans flat with the back pockets facing down, then simply measuring the waist from one side to the other.
But Iron Heart’s technique involves laying the jeans on their side, ie with their side pocket faced down, and then measuring the waist from rear to front. This way, you get a truer waist measurement. This is often about 2 or 3 cm bigger than the method I described previously.

I really have a hard time to find an explanation about the differences of waist measurements between Iron Heart official measurements and 2 retailers that stock that specific model in size tag 36 . They measure with different method than Iron Heart , that being said "they put it flat on a table, take a measuring tape and they measure form left to right fold of the waist in a direct line". I can understand that the different method , may explain some differences , but by my experience from other pairs the differences are small. The one retailers said to me that the model they have in stock is 88 cm and the other retailer said to me 90 cm . The official measurements are 93 cm . Could any experience member advise me if i should purchase one of that pairs or not ? Ideal i want a waist of 94-95 cm . Thanks in advance.

@Sisyfos All the jeans the retailers receive are from the same run as ours online, whilst there is some variance between tag sizes it's often minimal. A 5cm difference suggests, as you mentioned, that there is a difference in how the measurements are being taken.
You could enquire, to be on the safe side that the measurements are being taken per the Iron Heart measurement method.
On the 21oz denim as a rule we advise starting off 1" below your target waist, to anticipate any stretch you'll get from the fabric, which we estimate to be approx 1". If you want to email me at shop@ironheart.co.uk I can advise further.

You making it too hard on your self…
I have brought all my jeans from Gosport either you size down or go up.
For me waistline is important...They need to be worn snug, they will lose up..
Find your perfect jeans measure them..Bingo you will have you answer.
Hi Kasi . I have already measure my perfect Jeans and the waistline is 94-95 cm . Do you think i would be ok with the 90 cm pair after stretching ? Thank you.

Probably not. An inch is 2.4cm, they will stretch about an inch. You need a pair around 92-93cm. Get in touch with the shop via shop@ironheart.co.uk and they will try and find the perfect pair for you.

Have I made a grave mistake not sizing down?
Not a grave mistake, but as a general bit of advice after the fact, always go with the actual waist measurements rather than tag size. If you look at most 555’s the waist measures bigger than measured and bigger than most other cuts. For example the W32 measurements on the 555-01 will be bigger than w32 measurements on the IH-888s.
To the business at hand. Hard to say anything about the waist fit from that picture. However the jeans certainly look good there. No doubt about that.
How do the rest of the jeans fit? Thigh especially, but also top block? You have to ask yourself if you can tackle the thigh if you size down. You also have to ask yourself if you’ll be happy when the jeans stretch and loosen.
