IHG-035-TAN - Calf Folding Wallet - Tan
-
I got this wallet around Feb of this year in natural. Haven't really 'used' it much as I haven't been as able to leave the house.
At the same time I got the IHB-06 belt in natural, both my first IH leather goods and I gotta say they are pretty much unbeatable. Without question going to be my go to for many many years.
I wanted to confirm what tannery this wallets leather is from? Is it Tochigi too? The belt is coming a long much faster than the wallet, probably because I've used it slightly more.
Top stuff.

is the IHB-06 leather not from Tochiji @Giles ?
I assumed it was because the IHB-08 is, or at least it says it is in the first post here?

All good mate
Yeah I thought the wallet might be different.
Either way the leather for both is incredible.

Just ordered mine. Cant wait to see it!

The tannery for the wallet is not Tochiji. It's probably from another Himeji based tannery, but I do not know which one.
EDITED: Beacuase I am stupid
Giles is there any way u could find out more about the leather? Thickness, weight, etc…
I would love a belt made out of this leather, I haven’t seen any leather look quite as good after years of use, especially the shine it has. Not even my old Redmoon belt has that.
Thanks in advance.
Here are some pics of mine. Probably close to 7-8 years. I picked it up years ago from a fellow forum member, looked pretty new when I got it.

2022 pic, going to get many many more years out of this thing!

Had a Tan but lost it 7 years ago during my university time in Leeds. Been thinking of it and missing it for the longest time so I pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered a new one which should be reaching me tomorrow.
Here is a last picture of it before it went missing when I did the Leeds Otley Run.

Have decided to keep this wallet instead of sending it back to IHUK.
After i lost my previous IH-FW, i tried many different wallets from Goyard, Ridge, Xsto and even veg tanned leather from other brand but i still cannot forget the love i had for this iron heart wallet. I remember 10 years ago, it was pictures of Giles wallet that made me fell in love with this wallet.
Hence, I'm starting a new journey with this IHG-35…. Day 1 of using it today, 30/08/2022.

Third year into this wallet and still going strong!

I'm trying to decide between the cordovan and calf versions of the 'small', slimline wallet (no coin pouch) -- same design, just different leathers and prices. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has owned one or both regarding how they compare over time.

Great thread and pictures. Interesting how the tan seems to be preferred over black -- I'm sure both are great.
Anyone compared these beautiful calf IH wallets to the same design in cordovan?

The natural shell cordovan is new to us, first products made from it released in December or so last year, so no one will have good real life experience of how they age comparatively. New, they have a very different look, shell cordovan being shinier.
@Graham had the sample IHG-02-NAT so he should have the natural cordovan with the most milegage on it and will share progress pics later today

Beautiful Graham -- thanks (you too Alex). I saw an older oxblood cordovan wallet on the forums that had seen a lot more use (12 years, if I recall). There were some spots where the cordovan shell (or oxblood dye) was wearing through to the underlying tan leather. I'd guess this would be less obvious with natural cordovan over time, but it's, in part, what prompted the question of how cordovan wears vs. calf. Only time will tell, but I'm sure both will look great, and wear like ... iron
