Anyone here play video games?

If I may offer a dissenting opinion:
RDR2 was really excellent with amazing production and well worth a play just for the jaw dropping visuals, but as a game I felt it suffered for the overly restrictive approach to missions (try to think outside the box for a moment and the mission will fail because you haven’t done EXACTLY what the designers intended), and some tasks became tedious (E.g. watching the player character skin an animal, very slowly, for the umpteenth time). I still enjoyed it greatly, but I reached a point where I just mainlined the story missions and once I was done with the story I was done - the gameplay wasn’t strong enough to keep me interested in the post-game.
Inside is ‘move right the game’. Very light on gameplay, it’s just a vehicle for a weird story.

People already play Diabo 4? Early in? I’m playing since today! Just level 9
-
@Heavy_blue I’ll start tomorrow !! Can’t wait. What build are you playing ?
I tried sorcerer and barbarian during the beta but I think I’ll stick with the sorcerer to start.
-
@Fl4vM noice!! I’m a necromancer, always went with barbarian but wanted to try something else for my first playthrough
-
@endo didn’t play it yet.. but it looks very cool! Reminds me a little of Bioshock!
-
@Fl4vM and?? Like it?
-
@Heavy_blue Haha yeah pretty much ! But I’m doing act1 for 3rd time after the 2 betas so the real discovery will be after.
Playing a sorceress with a different build from the beta for now. ️🪄 -
Ooh a video game thread! Lol. Top game right now: Ghost of Tsushima! Only game I ever played 100% as it progressed- didn’t wanna miss a thing. Love the samurai/ninja vibe and gameplay, incredible story and visuals. Highly recommend.

@WhiskeySandwich this is high on my list. Looking forward to playing someday soon

@WhiskeySandwich Ghost of Tsushima is a great game. I want to give it a replay on PS5 at some point, with the expansion.
Currently making my way through Horizon: Forbidden West myself. Damn it’s a worthy upgrade to the first game in every single respect.

I wish I had more time to get really good but I’m huge fan of Hunt Showdown. The weapons are meticulously designed and rooted in the last century. Most of them are slow sooting so the engagements last longer compared to games with full auto weapons. Graphic and general vibe of southern US is just awesome. Game mechanics are challenging but don’t lead to despair as in Escape From Tarkov.

@SKT I'm currently exploring classics of this last five or so years, can fully understand why Hollow Knight is so highly regarded. Beautiful animation, sound design and lore, with such a pure combat and movement system. Bosses are so well designed that you never feel cheated, and button bashing will never yield success.

@T4920 I think you'll like it. A few hours might not be enough time - if memory serves it's a slow starter, but once you get into the swing of things and get to the point where you start having to make hard choices, it becomes much more interesting.

@EdH Just finished the game, couldn't pull myself away from it despite being ill these last few days and feeling very tired/lethargic.
You were right about the soundtrack, genuinely moved me at times, especially when the minstrels play during the liberation rites...
Succeeded in 4/7 liberations, and loved the final twist the game served up!
Really appreciated the post game epilogues too, amazing how invested I was in the fates of even the most minor side characters.
