WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY (PICS)
-
I've been sitting here for the past 2 hours listening to Tornado sirens going off. It's supposed to get worse tonight. If it hits, there will be an S load of Iron Hearts littering Pineville. Oddly today it was worse in the mountain areas.

Oh man, I had such a good time. I spent so much money on beer. It poured rain most of the night and I got soaked.
I took a few more pictures.

Character-Defining Elements
The following character-defining elements of the Scotch Bonnet Island Lighthouse should be respected:
— its ruinous physical condition;
— its strategic location on Scotch Bonnet Island on the western approach to Prince Edward County on Lake Ontario;
— its privileged placement at the centre of Scotch Bonnet Island, a low-lying limestone island with sparse vegetation;
— the trace of the lighthouse as described by its found structural form, height and profile;
— the found visual relationship between the cylindrical tower and integrated keeper’s residence; and,
— its visual prominence in relation to the water and landscape. -
Getting a sugar fix
Purple yam. Not bad, but not great, either. -
Down in Cornwall on holiday with the Mrs and one happy teenager and one 'Kevin and Perry' teenager.
Drizzler..

Down in Cornwall on holiday with the Mrs and one happy teenager and one 'Kevin and Perry' teenager.
Firstly… Cornwall is wonderful. I spent some months in Bodmin way back when and regret not being able to explore more.
Secondly, you have my sympathies. That stage is grim. I speak not because I am plagued by it from my teens, but because I was that teen.
Finally, looking good, mate.

Swam with Portsmouth triathletes club. The currents in Southsea run parallel to the shore and with tide coming in this morning the first 750 meters took 15 mins. After turning around at the submarine blocks, coming back took half an hour. Taking it easy to prep for standard distance new forest triathlon next week.

Wtf is a purple yam? What is it doing in a doughnut? Is this normal?
A purple yam is basically a purple sweet potato that's sweeter than the orange version. It's apparently used a lot in Filipino desserts. I guess it's started to spread to other places, too. Probably because it's a really eye catching color. The doughnuts in question here are malasadas, a light, airy Portuguese version. Malasadas are popular in Hawaii, probably as a result of Portuguese laborers being brought into the state in the late 1800s to work in the sugar cane plantations. Using Filipino ingredients makes sense- Filipinos were brought into Hawaii in the early 1900s as laborers for the sugar cane plantations (seeing a trend here?).
So to answer your last question- yeah, it kinda is

I thought a pedantic answer would appeal to you. And to be moreso-
No cultural appropriation here; the Leonard of Leonard's Bakery was the grandson of Portuguese contact laborers who came to Hawaii in 1882. The bakery has been in operation since 1952. Filipinos are one of the largest ethnic groups in the state, so I would argue that the pastry in question is a wholly authentic expression of modern Hawaii's diversity.But I'm probably wrong. I often am…

No cultural appropriation here
Ok boomer [emoji1]
I was attempting irony. Some of the conversations I’ve had with my GenZ kids and their friends regarding cultural appropriation and cancel culture are hysterical. Mostly white, middle class, well off Norwegians trying to make sense of the world are cute (which is a über-boomer thing for me to say).
