WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY (PICS)
-
So, we decided to do the walk over the mountains yesterday. It is an approx 10 mile walk, but at the other end, unless you are prepared to walk another 10 miles, there is no bar. The walk ends in the middle of nowhere, which is a shame (and I say that, because as it effectively goes "nowhere" it is not utilised nearly enough) as it is a stunningly beautiful walk through remarkable geology and terrain. Indeed, unless you want to walk back, you have to organise someone to meet you at the other end. Luckily Dad was up for the trip, so he drove 110 miles around the mountain range to pick us up.
We set off at dawn, so we could get some of the uphill stuff done before that big yellow thing that you see a lot of over here made things uncomfortable:
Mrs G crossing a dry(ish) river bed at what is effectively the start of the walk:
Onwards and upwards:
This is the highest point of the walk. The rest of the walk descends into the valley and meanders along the stream until the last mile or so, which is a steep uphill:
Random prettyness
Haraki has obviously been here before us:
Looking back towrds the highest point from almost the end of the walk:
Messenger Bag enjoys a rest before the last mile or so:
And although there was not a bar at the end, Dad bought the beer with him:

some trails need to be walked for the purpose of walking
The problem is Beats. If you are not up to doing the walk there and back, you have to organise someone to do the round trip of 220 miles to pick you , not always possible and bloody expensive in a taxi….Next time I am going to do both ways.....too good to miss.....G
