White's Boots
-
I sent my measurements to Baker's; they forwarded them to White's and said that I should be a size 9. I take a 9.5 in Red Wings but usually require an additional insole for a snug fit. I went with their sizing recommendation since they probably know better than I do. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a pair of White's SD 10D, Alden Indy 10D and White's SJ 10D. The only thing i can say for sure is I wish the SD was a C instead of a D. It feels like it's wider than the SJ. The Indys mold to the foot better compared to the hard leather insole White's uses. Without the cork insole Indy would probably feel as wide as the SD.
I just guessed at my size and didn't take any suggestions from Bakers or White's.

Received my White's today after about a 6-week waiting period. The fit is spot on. Unfortunately I won't be able to wear them for a few days as I'm recovering from a terrible sunburn on my legs/ankles/feet The smell and feel of the leather is stunning right out of the box. I can't wait to make these something I wear almost everyday. I did a custom-order though Baker's. You can see my configuration as follows:

Absolutely beautiful.!

Can anyone explain what exactly a celastic toe box is, and what the difference between a single and double c t b is? Danke.
-
toe boxes are made out of leather traditionally. a celastic toe box is a different material (a man made, hard material) that keeps the shape but is lighter and less protective than a steel toe. that much I know.
however, a double toe box, I believe would just doubly reinforce the toe box to keep the shape and give the toe some added protection without the added weight of steel.
hope that helps
