IHM-27-OLV - Sateen M-65 Field Jacket - Olive

@EastClintwood Sadly, the no is firm for this season. You could always try putting an ad in the WTB section of the marketplace for a gently used one. You might get lucky.
You could also look at the different retailers and see if they have something in your size.

I’m considering getting one of these in olive. I’m curious to see how they age. A quick glance didn’t seem to give any progression photos. What does it look like after two or three years of wear and say 15-20 washes? I’ve got a couple of vintage authentic military issue M65 jackets off ebay and really love how they have aged and would hope these age well.
Hey, it's been 4 years since you posted this. Did you buy one? How did it age?
Would love to see it.

@EastClintwood Sorry, but it doesn’t look like the poster has been on the forum for the last 2 years. Last time they were on the forum was December 2022.

@neph93 I realize this is an old post but I wanted your input regarding the “articulated” front pockets …
I notice in pictures that they can look sagged out on the bottom and sides. I might not be describing that perfectly but I hope you know what I mean.
Do the pockets fold or tuck back into shape and remain there when they are empty or do they stay in this sagged out shape?
I’m going to a local retailer to see one of these today.
Thank you, Brian

I had the chance to try this jacket on yesterday at a retailer nearby and get my sizing down, which was great. I probably would’ve ordered the wrong size online as this one really stumped me lol.
I went with a XL (my UHF size is XXL). The fit was spot on with room to wear a 1600 tee and a UHF underneath. Exactly what I wa looking for.
However, practicing a great deal of restraint, I left the store telling them I’d sleep on it, as the only thing that gave me pause was the height of the collar. Then, I woke up in the middle of the night with cold sweats … scrolled through endless reviews and pictures (again) and decided place the on line order. Why torture myself any longer, I was just looking to justify this purchase.
I should have it by the end of the week, just in time for our trip to Chicago.
Shout out to this forum for the depth of information found here, and to all the members who contribute their time.

@Brandrea Nice!
Indeed, why torture yourself
Amazing jacket. As I wrote somewhere in the thread for the black version, probably my number one IH jacket. Just wore it today, loved it as always.
(I was going to answer you in the other thread btw, but super busy this week and forgot, sorry! My black one is currently at 111 wears as of today and I haven't noticed any sagging of the chest pockets. I would say I use them sporadically though. And I imagine you could fairly easily iron them back into shape should you want/need to).

Great story. Incidentally, I’ve found the (presumably similar sized) collar on my 42 to be really nice around the neck when it’s chilly, usually with all my other collars pulled up inside too.
Nice score; always a bonus to try on for size first. Hope it arrives in time for your trip. ️
-
@JunkPants thank for the info on pockets. I’m looking forward to putting some miles on this jacket! Sounds like yours is well worn.
-
@Mister_Brue, yes I can see how the stand up collar will come in handy on those chilly days. I just got a notification that I should receive it on Thursday! Thanks man.
-
@Brandrea Congrats on finding one! I’m on the hunt too. Did this retailer have any size L still in stock?
-
@EastClintwood , unfortunately they did not. They had a medium in stock. Large would’ve been the other size I really wanted to try on but I’m happy I went with XL, as I’ll be wearing it with UHFs and sweaters mostly.
Seems as though the olive is hard to come by in XL. Good luck, I’d hope you find one!
-
@Brandrea
Alright, thanks anyway!I actually found the jacket in XL at a shop in Bern, Switzerland just yesterday and ordered it. Looks like we might’ve snagged the last two XLs in the world, haha.
You and I have very similar measurements so I’m pretty sure it’ll fit—but I’m still keeping an eye out for an L just in case.
-
@EastClintwood Congratulations man, well done!!
I hope it fits you the way you want. I only had a change to snap this very quick picture in the store. I’m wearing a 1600, and a UHF underneath…
It’s maybe a touch roomy, but I like a bit of room in a jacket. Besides, if a jacket has a great pattern (which this one does) I think you can size up without it looking out of place.

@Brandrea
A chill fit is the best fit. I picture that going for a for a larger size only adds to the coat-like vibes, which I definitely enjoy.It's looking ace on you! Can't wait to receive mine.
-
@EastClintwood totally agree … Please update this thread with your fit pics when you receive it. Excited for you!

The jacket arrived a day early so I figured I’d update with some pictures.
Overall I’m pleased with the fit. It’ll work great with layers, and most importantly it feels the right size (to me). I really would’ve liked to try on a large, but alas there are none and since I really wanted the olive colorway XL it is!
One thing I noticed and haven’t seen it mentioned before are that the sleeves have this stiching detail near the outside elbow. I assume this is to give the sleeve some shape ~ kinda cool. All the other features mentioned here are as I expected. Really well constructed jacket. Thanks IH.

@Brandrea So I finally received the jacket, but I quickly found out that XL is too big for me, so I'll be sending it back to the shop in Switzerland where I bought it.
For anyone interested, the M65 in XL will soon be available at Feinfracht.com once they process my return. They also have it in XXL and XXXL.
Big shoutout to them for their excellent customer service.

@Brandrea looks a good fit to me I think large would have been tight on you . enjoy one of iron hearts best jackets .

@gazza61 thank you, I look forward to wearing it once the weather here cooperates:)
