Starting to get really excited for this years race here in Austin! Our parking passes just arrived today and it’s the next race on the schedule!
This will be my sons first time going to see F1, or any race cars really haha He is only 2 and a half, but is a big fan of race cars and Formula 1. We figure Friday will be a relaxed day with less people. Tickets were only $19 to get in!! Compared to $220 for race day. I also have a buddy flying out to come to the Friday with me.
-
@Danimal506 so tempted to impulse my way there. Never been to one in person. Doing MX next season!
-
@mclaincausey With how close this season has been, every race is worth going to.
I went to the race in 2021 the year Max won. It was so exciting to watch Max and Lewis battling it out. Keeping up with the lap to lap timing and seeing in person how close they’re racing each other. And the crowds are so international that it’s a really fun bunch of people.
Race day was a bit chaotic with the amount of people. So with our son coming with us, were going on Friday for Practice 1 and luckily we will get to see them running full spec for the Sprint Race Qualifying.
Mexico City would be such a cool race to go to!!

Damn good race in Austin. Hate when it comes down to the stewards but def a good show
-
nice to see a Ferrari 1-2 at COTA
-
Anyone been to the F1 Arcades for quali or practice? They just opened one in DC and I'd like to check it out with some friends but dont know if I wanna get tickets to a "watch party" first thing.
-
this divebomb-to-the-apex thing is getting out of hand. seems like everybody's doing it now. I just want to see some clean battles that go back and forth for a few laps. I love watching max and lando go at it, but man, take your time and keep it on the track, set the move up rather than just chucking it and blasting out of control. The addition of gravel to some of the tracks seems to have helped, maybe that should be the norm if dudes cant behave? Apex rule aside: keep it on the track, and don't make contact.
-
Oh, and the F1 Arcade in DC was cool btw. They had just opened, so some of their organization/operations were a bit clunky, but i think they'll iron it out. Good food, good drinks, the sims look fun and they place was pretty nice.

It's being addressed by the FIA

mad max is back
-
@louisbosco his moves were pretty crazy, some of the most desperate moves ive seen from him, although i do agree that he's trying to push the limits of the existing rules...but its not just him.... Checo moving on Lawson was pretty unclean, and his lunge down the inside with absolutely no room shows that they need to work on more than just the outside line at apex too. Everybodys just driving super dirty.
-
@WhiskeySandwich red bull are desperate. the newey.exe is going to expire soon. but for max, it has always been his style of driving. so in a way, I'm not too surprised.
-
They’re all desperate. Max is making more mistakes than usual. More drivers are copying his style. Seems like RB is running out of pace at the same rate that Neweys upgrades expire. Pressure is on.
-
Max has always driven that way. Just didn’t have to when he had a much faster car.
Checo had immense pressure based on his underperformance for quite a while now and this being his home race, not to mention facing off against the guy who’s taking his seat next year.
-
I don’t disagree. But the pressure is on with the points coming down to the last bit of the season, everyone is going a bit nuts. Not to mention all the seat changes. Frantic antics
-
It really makes the end of the season very exciting!
I feel like Max has the Driver’s title locked, unless he gets one or two zero points finishes.
But Constructors is totally up in the air!
-
@Danimal506 dude I love when it comes down the wire for the championships! I like seeing someone different winning each race. Max had it pretty easy last year but he’s being tested much more this year and the level of competition is super high.
-
6 multi-race winners this season so far. That’s what I like. I wish the field had caught RBR faster so we would have a WDC as well as a WCC race but what a season.
-
@WhiskeySandwich Hell yea! This season has been great. Every race truly has been unpredictable. I wish I had more time to watch every minute of coverage. I watch with my 2.5 year old and he loves it!
I have a fun fact of having seen the winning driver of each race that I’ve been to, go on to become World Drivers’ Champion.
I saw Nico Rosberg win at Monza in 2016, Lewis Hamilton win at CotA in 2017 and Max Verstappen win at CotA in 2021. All became WDC that year. -
would be lovely seeing a drivers decider in Abu Dhabi. with that said, I hope next season will be exciting as I'll be heading back to Suzuka for Round 3. Hamilton in a Ferrari, will I be a convert.
