@Kasi they are super easy. Just unwrap the barrel, take off the top lid, place washed and wet shirt in the washer with the opened barrel on top of the shirt unfolded. Regular cotton cycle on 40C, then second cycle with detergent, then air dry away from heat. Run another cycle in the washer to remove excess dye. I've done it a few times. It can come out mildly blotchy like small darker spots similar to how tie dye does but it's no bother to me.

They are apparently not made for top loaders and best used for front loaders. Does not necessarily mean it wouldn't work but I would definitely do a little research before trying it.
