I am starting a new painting and if this one is successful in my mind I plan to begin a series. All large scale on gesso'd drop cloth canvas. Here I am applying the second coat of gesso using a roller made for ceilings on a rod. So far I am feeling pretty confident this will work out.
The content of the painting is flora and fauna from around the area in which I live.
Hard to see fine lines but I have an oak and hickory forest in there along with hellebore plants on the left with oak leaves and acorns in brown conte on the right.I am going experiment with some of the ferns in the backyard. I plan to roll paint onto part of a leaf and try to print it onto the canvas. I'll also start paint in the trees regularly in the background tomorrow and maybe parts of the buck. I want to paint the buck with a piebald coat. I have seen two juvenile piebald white tailed deer in the area and was inspired by their odd beauty. Below is a photo of one I took from last winter I will use for partial reference.
Edit: some of the legs on the buck need widening...

@Oaktavia inspired. way to get after it man
-
@flannel-slut heck yeah man. Today was a productive one. One the fire is lit, why not feed it?
-
@flannel-slut im just remembering seeing this the first time way back when and somehow never commented…did you paint this!!?
-
@Mizmazzle I did (oil on panel board) there was a time I was able to support myself with commissioned portraits and landscapes but desperately needed a consistent paycheck some time after the 08’ housing crash. I still paint but mostly for myself or for friends n family now.
-
Damn, Brennan. Really impressive. So much detail and incredible scale. And here I thought goofy, flannel porn was your primary talent!
-
@Mizmazzle "goofy flannel porn" and very kind words bud. Definitely something I was very passionate about and still am to this day.
-
@Mizmazzle thanks buddy

@Mizmazzle I'm painting this one to fill wall space in our front room in the house. I'll hang others where I can. I used to show work in galleries in my 20s but lost interest in the schmoozing aspect. I lost contact with all that...
-
@Mizmazzle hah I appreciate the enthusiasm but I am wary of soliciting art here.
-
@Oaktavia I spotted some bare walls in the Gosport IH headquaters outdoor recreation area! You should get a "paint for IH goodies" deal going!
-
@Bailey Thank you! I’ll post some new work when I have a few minutes.

Working an oil painting for the Mrs. Got a solid session in last night, knocked out most of the background foliage and little of the base layer on the flowers
