@Giles is the 720 the slimming down of the 816 cut? I was very excited about these but when I compared the sizing to the 816 brown duck size 34” the leg opening is half an inch smaller and the thigh is as well .4” slimmer. I know different patterns, fabrics, production runs and other factors create differences in final product but the 816 is such a great classic timeless cut I would hate to loose it to the skinny pants fad. RIP 816?

When I decided to do the 816 in whipcord, we gave it a lot number IH-816-XXX.
Then Haraki realised he like the idea and decided to release the same pant in Japan.
For some reason, he decided to give them a lot number of IH-720, but they are essentially exactly the same pant as the whipcord 816's. So any variance in sizing is purely down the normal variation we get when making things up in different fabrics….

They are my favourite Jobmaster build ever with the exception of the lowered heel. I’ll get a custom version made one day with the full stack and double mids.
Also great pants! Crew, please do not check the W34’s for a slightly bigger thigh. I repeat, do not do the check.

Oh crap. I am generally a 37 inch waist, and most IH jeans in 36 inch give me the 1 inch stretch I need. I love these, I want these, but fear 36 would be too small and 38 too big.
@Giles the listing says you wear a 34 but would prefer a 35…looks same for me with 36 but would prefer 37. I don't own any whipcord, no relaxing/stretch at all to be had in this material? Thanks in advance

There are four pairs of W36 and four pairs of W38. I’d give pretty short odds on there being one pair amongst them with suitably divergent measurements that would work for you. Get on the blower
