IHSH-293-OD - 18oz Vintage Selvedge Denim CPO Shirt - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
Hi all,
I am planning to buy this beautiful shirt on payday (end of the month)
I am 185 cm, 83 kg and I have two IH shirts - both L size.
What would you recommend- which size should I go with this one? I read different opinions here and of course it is a matter of personal preference but still…I am not planning to do layering - I will probably put just a simple cotton T-shirt under this beauty… -
Please send an email to shop@ironheart.co.uk to discuss sizing.

What would you recommend- which size should I go with this one? I read different opinions here and of course it is a matter of personal preference but still…I am not planning to do layering - I will probably put just a simple cotton T-shirt under this beauty…I am 177cm tall and weigh 76kg. I typically buy a Large in most IH shirts. I stuck with that for this one. However, the OD version is smaller than the non-OD version and I also think this one uses a slightly trimmer pattern than past releases. I only wear a T-Shirt underneath and it JUST fits.
The area where you may run into trouble (because you are taller and slightly heavier than I am) is the elbows and overall length. For some reason, the elbows and forearms on this IHSH-293 are pretty darn snug. If you have any mass whatsoever in your arms I would size up to XL. Also, the length is perfect for me, but I wouldn't want it any shorter. Because you are taller is another reason to potentially size up.
I LOVE this shirt, but it definitely runs on the trim side. To see some great fit pics, check out the Withered Fig web site. The model there is 6'1" and 178 pounds. That will give you a good idea of fit...hope that helps!

@SaddleSC looks good on you!
Thank you, my friend! I really love the fit on this one, quite trim, but just right:)

Thank you very much for the detailed info. I will probably also contact the crew to check all measures but so far it seems that XL might be the better option for me
-
I'm your height but 15kg lighter and my L is a reasonably trim fit in chest and shoulders. I'd say XL is the safer bet.
-
I went against the advice of sizing up or taking my "normal" uhf size and went down to a large instead of my usual XL. My intent is to wear this only over a tee and currently this is on top of an 11oz long sleeve IH shirt, so the heaviest I'd ever go. Thoughts on the fit? It feels mostly good. At most I could have asked for was another quarter inch here and there and an XL might be too generous for how this will be used.

@pechelman i agree with your take on the fit. I’m L in everything. I plan to wear mine as a shirt over a T-shirt. Or as it softens more (it is soft already) no T. The arms are very slim compared to every other IH large sized shirt I own, which surprised me… but otherwise, it is an amazing shirt! So soft and smooth. An XL would’ve been a perfect layering shirt, and no doubt given my arms more room, but not what I was looking for. FWIW, I’m 5’7”, 170. Bigger shoulders and chest from exercise.
-
Thanks, @Autorotate . I agree on the softness too. The comments above about heavy linen also match my experience. Really like the slim sleeves on this one, that was one thing that caught my eye on the chart compared to some other CPOs which seem to be cut more for layering. If anything, this one has me doubting I should have sized down to large in the new cpo moleskin. We're about the same, 5'9 and 175.
-
That fit is excellent @pechelman. You’d be swimming in a size up, especially in shoulder width. It’s a keeper and it keeps getting better and better.
Adding a photo of me in an xl. 5’11” 190lb

@pechelman I'm 5'10", 170-ish pounds, and I'm wearing a large. The forearms and cuffs are indeed trim fitting, but I like the fitted look. I think the fit looks good on you.
I don't plan on wearing anything more than a T shirt under mine. I'm in Colorado, so I wear it like a heavy shirt. The pockets pretty much disappear on this piece.
-
@pechelman Love the fit, and the lighting in that second photo really brings out the unique qualities of the OD.
-
Another fit question. This is my first IH shirt. Snug in the shoulder. The rest is ok but can’t wear anything more than a tee shirt. This is a medium. Should I size up?
-
@Zinc2162 looks good! If you wanna use it as a overshirt then size up. If you wanna wear it as a regular shirt you’re good.
-
perfect fit
-
@Zinc2162 I wear a large, and mine fits me pretty much the same way as the medium fits you. I think the medium looks good on you.
Some people like to layer a flannel under these, but that's not how I like to wear mine. I usually layer a colored tee shirt (mainly short sleeve) under mine and wear it like a heavy shirt, or unsnapped like a shirt-jacket. If the fit bothers you, you could size up, but bear in mind that there shouldn't be shrinkage in this garment due to the overdye process.
