IHM-35-ODG - Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Olive
-
I was torn between L and XL for layerability, but with how warm this jacket is I went with L and requested the biggest shoulder and chest measurements. This is the perfect shade of olive. Much less green than the previous olive.
-
Thank god I ended up trying these out in person! I’m usually an XXL but recently started working out more seriously and can fit some XLs now and I ended up taking the Large in the N1 it’s a tad snug but not bad at all
-
Just picked one up, can't wait for it to show up next week
-
Congrats @Joberwocky this has been on my hit list for a long time but I’ve told myself I won’t pull the trigger until my current winter coat bites the dust. For some reason that bastard keeps hanging on, might need to just bust the zip already. I recently picked up an IHJ-61 on the seconds market so I’m hoping it’ll scratch that itch until I’m ready for the full N1 treatment

Thanks @jerkules
I've been wearing the heck out of my stormrider since the temps started dropping but I've been eyeing up the N1 a lot -

Got here just in time for the temperature dropping to near-freezing and the first snow. Had my doubts about the length, but it’s just plain great. Especially enjoying the hand warmer pockets. Not a great photo, but you get the idea.
-
@Widening Gyre no snow yet here in Maryland (though the temps sure have dropped). Did you size up for crazy layering potential or go fairly fit?
-
@Joberwocky Nope. I wear SP-L shirts and this is also SP-L. The N1 does feel a bit more roomy, though - the shirts are all slightly tight in the chest. Would probably wear 5XL shirts if they existed. This fits me perfect with a tee and is still comfy with a knit or UHf under it.

The jacket is substantial
Few minutes of attempting to photograph myself inside and I could already feel myself wanting to sweatEnded up with a medium as it's measurements skewed slight larger than the other two colors, especially the black (Large in black was actually smaller than the medium I got). Much thanks to the IHUK crew and @JoshC for helping me get the sizing I wanted.
I can comfortably fit a UHF under it so that's kinda the sweet spot for me. Length is a tick on the shorter side than something like my 101SR which is what I was hoping for. I can get the throat buttoned pretty easily considering the rigidity of the fabric, though inside that kind of insulation is oppressive. The zipper is almost comically robust. It's an incredible bit of kit, and while I originally had hoped to nab the khaki I think this shade of olive is perfectly understated. It all worked out
Some photos by me in a messy "in the middle of laundry when it showed up" room, another by my wife who walked in from work on my photo shoot

Good score, would not change a thing about the fit.
The throat latch on my (RMC) N-1 isn't something I've ever used. More of a vestigial nod to the past as far as I'm concerned.
-
Solid fit @Joberwocky
-
@mclaincausey I only mention it because while I'll probably never actually do it up, if I knew I couldn't it would drive me nuts
-
Fit looks perfect @Joberwocky.
I'm surprising you ain't soaked in sweat knowing you got a UHF and that jacket on inside. I know I'd be
-
The UHF was put on solely for the photo since it was sitting next to me on the arm of the couch, then PROMPTLY taken off
-
I’m the same way @Joberwocky and fastened mine exactly once. I have a Roy shirt I can’t button the neck on. I never button necks but I sure as shit let him know about it. Very respectfully of course and I love the shirt regardless. It would have bothered me more on outerwear for some reason. Either way I think the olive looks great (mine is also olive).
-
This looks perfect @Joberwocky. Glad everything worked out.

Where I live the throat match is absolutely genius and vital in the winter months. We get A LOT if wind here and that wind can be brutally cold.

@neph93 since I figure there's more snow in the last picture of yours I saw than Maryland has seen in nearly a decade combined, I'll consider it the "in case I visit Reuben"-latch
