IH-555-SST - 21oz Shinayaka Selvedge Denim - Super Slim - Indigo

@Neph93. I need 13.8 and over thigh measument on a non stretch. Anything under that is just tight and will never lossen enough to be comfortable. So usually i start with a pair that is 13.8 and end up with around 14.3 or so after they stretch. But i was thinking with Shinayaka i could possible start with a pair in the 13.3 to 13.5 range and get them to work because of the stretch they have.

I would say it was borderline for you. You would fit into them, but it would be tight. I do not think you would have the discomfort you would have had with non stretch denim though.
I think it is worth mentioning that the knee measurements are important with the 555. A jean with a 13.5" thigh on a 634 feels a lot more comfortable than the same thigh on a 555 because of the taper from thigh to knee.

You are absolutely right. I didn't think about that. I am one of those that has to size up on 888 vs 634 just because of that reason. I need the knee close to 9.8 and up. I will wait for the 888 cut. Thank you!

Congratulations ^
Hope you could share your experience.

Was able to try these on at Berkeley Supply, tag 36 felt snug in the thigh with a bit of difficulty doing the top button. Tag 38 was roomy and could fit my finger between the pant. Couldn't choose..

Is it possible to fall in love with the OG 210z denim all over again? I think the answer is yes. I am only on day 2 here but so far as I am concerned these are a gigantic win. Slim cuts have never been my thing, I got them lovable thighs, but I always want something in slim cut anyway. I suspect I am not the only one in this camp. This denim makes it not only possible but trending towards quite comfortable for me to get into something like a 555. There are very very subtle differences between this and the OG 21 but you would be really hard pressed to find anything significant, appearance wise, from what I am seeing. Not sure what else I can say that has not already been said, thank you @neph93, but if you’re considering giving this Shinayaka denim a try I say DO IT!!
Shit pics, shit light, pre coffee, and a totally awesome 8 year old aspiring photographer on an equally old iphone…but you get the jest.

The jeans look great @zhivago I am pretty jelly. I'll bet they are so comfortable.
-
Thanks Mike!! I am definitely surprised/stoked on just how comfortable they actually are.
-
Thanks fellas!!
I went with a 36. I am 6'1" 185ish. There is room in the waist and I need a belt straight away for these but no chance the thighs on the 34 would have worked, as in NOOOOO chance

We are nearly doppelgängers. Hard to find a snug waist with thighs that will fit in any of the tapered cuts.

Anyone on the fence with these needs to pull the trigger. The fit is there. The stretch is minimal, but there. It's like your favorite pair of 555-01's with enough stretch that you don't notice it. Hard to explain how easy these jeans are to wear.
I ride motorcycles daily and the 555-01's were a no-go. My slightly larger 777's gave me some more room, but still - not motorcycle friendly. These are. They remind me of thicker 511's. Just the right amount of stretch, yet you get a heavy denim with what seems to be great fading potential.
After 1 wash/dry I've got some electric blue's popping through in higher wear areas. Not bad for slightly less than a month of every day wear.
Excited to see how these turn out in 2 - 3 months with more riding another wash/dry or 2. Should look as worn as my 555-01's!

Makes me super happy to read this. Very similar to my experience with the sample pair. Hope to see photo's down the line.

Well, this is my first 555 cut and I found my pair really super-slim, but in the right way. Love it!
I went whit w29, like I did with IH-634s and IH-888s: I think they fit very well
About stretch, I really can feel it.
You can clearly feel the stretch by "pinching" them!
I'll post some pics after a few days of wear.
