1975 Silver Streak! This was an old Wally Byum (Airstream founder) design from the 40s right before he started AS. The Jalousie windows are totally rad. The owners invited me inside but I declined politely. No one down here wears masks or practices distancing so they probably thought me rude. Oh well…

Pinson Mounds St Pk in TN is home to 2000 yr old sacred Native American mounds. The mounds were built by hand using baskets of dirt. They were not villages but rather destination points for things like ceremonies, stargazing, weddings, funerals and the like. The tallest one is Saul’s mound and is about 75’ high. The corners align with NEWS so it’s believed it was an observation tower of some kind.

I would have taken some more pics but we had to leave before seeing anything else because the kids melted down.
Also, I was dragging a bit because I’m pretty sure we all got COVID in KY last week. The kids had cold symptoms for 2 days and Katie and I felt slightly off last Tuesday. A couple days ago she and I started feeling fatigue, headaches and mild soreness. We hoped it was just a cold but we’re leaning towards COVID now. We’re hiding for the next week just in case. I guess wearing masks doesn’t really help if no one else does. Fortunately I got world class medical care at a military hospital after being helicoptered there and receiving a cocktail of experimental drugs and round the clock treatment. That’s the standard here apparently.

Beautiful scene! I bet it’s a blast to tool around on your bike in such a flat terrain. How’s everyone feeling? Did y’all end up getting tested for Covid?

Thank you for asking. We feel ok, just slightly off. I have to keep on top of the ibuprofen to keep a headache at bay and can’t do much without losing my breath but no fever and no soreness outside the usual middle aged man feelings. Small cough, more of a throat clearing. Katie is about the same. Kids are over it. Residual sniffles.
We aren’t getting tested because we don’t really need the diagnosis one way or the other. We don’t need any treatment and we don’t go to school or work plus we know when it started so we’ll just give ourselves two weeks from last Wed before we start making out with strangers.
We figured it was just a matter of time out here in the red zone. We’re all young enough that we figured the risk was acceptable. We’ll just keep up the hand washing and mask wearing and keep on trucking.

Truth be told, I’ve been looking for an excuse to stay 6’ away from people for most of my adult life so it’s working out pretty good for me.
crane operators social distance for a living.

I’ll keep that in mind @steelworker thank you.

Feeling good today. No headache. No aches. Feeling good. Great view out the trailer window. Katie spent much of the night riding her bike around the campground with a headlamp on looking for armadillos like a freaking psychopath. I’ll be damned if she didn’t find one at the bathhouse.
