Jeal af. I totally screwed up by not stopping by myself when I was in Japan last. Osaka was so cool!

Osaka is awesome. The food and beer there were outstanding, the best out of the 3 cities we visited (Tokyo and Kyoto were the other two).

Those are the cities we visited as well. Great trio of cities and the bullet train was epic. Admittedly, the best part of the train ride was eating my weight in bento boxes lol.

Much appreciation @henry_david The fades could tell some stories if they could talk. They’ve been through lots of situations and circumstances and have travelled thousands of miles. These were worn from 2011-2016. It’s really and truly a genuine thrill to see them continue to shine so long after retirement. Denim is extraordinary wearable art!

Totally agree. I still remember the first time I popped into SESF back about ten years ago. I was blown away by the wear patterns of the jeans on the walls and vowed to achieve the same one day
Still working on it… How did you wash/rinse those bad boys? Do you remember?

Here was the first soak post from 2011:
@adam313:Soaked my second pair yesterday, 28W:
- Inside out, folded lengthwise, gently placed in the basin of the washing machine. Hot water. Bit of Woolite Dark. Lid closed. 7 hours.
- Drained. Soaked again in hot water to rinse out soap. Hand agitation (swirling water back and forth). 1 hour.
- Hung on a line outside, still inside-out. 5 hours. 60' F. 25% humidity.
- Put on while slightly damp, walked around, up and down stairs, squats, etc. Still wearing them…
It gets easier the more you do it apparently. I had all four buttons closed within an hour. Best jeans ever.
After this, when they needed it, I soaked slightly soapy and then rinsed clean, hang dried, worn while slightly damp until dry, and did that until the denim softened enough not to leave sharp creases from the wash. After that, I washed when dirty, sometimes after months, sometimes after weeks, sometimes for an emergency wash, sometimes to prepare for repair. Always inside out, always air dried.

Oh yeah, the bento boxes were the best part of the train ride. I was dubious at first but they were absolutely killer.
This was my favorite bar we visited in Osaka: https://www.japantimes.co.jp/life/2017/09/23/food/beer-belly-minohs-tenma-branch-solid-suds-tapas/
My wife and I had been planning on another trip to Japan in a couple months for my 40th, but obviously that's not happening. As soon as international travel opens up (and the Olympics aren't going on) we'll be going back.

Damn that's quite a denim washing recipe! Noted for my next pair…

That bar looks rad af, @setandsetting. I miss the food (of all types) in Japan. Yeah, my wife and I were talking about a Fall 2020 trip and now it looks like it'll be 2022 before we make it out there…
-
I only soaked in the top-loading washing machine because the lady of the house vetoed the bathtub soak straightaway. I was not willing to risk the consequences of defiance. Happy lady and all is most important…

Yup. We've been joking that this is going to turn into a 45th birthday trip rather than 40th. Just gives us more time to save those credit card points towards 1st class tickets.
