Unpopular opinions

surely hipster also covers kid cudie & childish gambino, but I have no idea on the term at all, hahahahaha
Cudi always looked great in his APC and I mean, he's definitely down with Japanese gear as BAPE made a shirt for him (and he used to work in the soho store from what I understand. I always wonder if the dud that sold me Bapestas back in 2006 at the freshly
Opened NY store was cudi). Not sure I've ever seen him rock any repro gear but I will 100% honestly admit I wore Dior 19cm, kid robot hoodies and Nike SB Dunks entirely because of his first album hahaNow That picture I just put in your head of me from 2006-2008 probably should be an unpopular opinion in itself hahaha

Bape are one of the greatest Japanese clothing brands (unpop opinion).

I still have two pairs of Bapestas in boxes in my parents house, along with other ridiculously loud looking sneakers. I keep them and a size Small Drior Hedi Slimane tshirt in there as a reminder of how old, lame and fat I've gotten since graduating high school haha

I have had a pair of Skullsta's for almost ten years and still rock them now and then. For sneakers the quality of the leather is incredible.
Sold everything else I had but I used to have some real old school Bape, pre shark hoodies.

Moc toe boots are hideous. Even worse are false moc toe boots, because they don't even have the constructional justification.

So my personal experience with SESF formed my opinion.
I visited about 4 years ago for the 1st time and the customer service was disappointing. I was the only person that walked thru the place and the employee on the laptop didnt even bother to look up….
Similar experience 2 years later. Then a year after that I had regular service where the guy told me to hold up while he attended the other guy that seemed to capture his attention more. All of this is IME.
I didnt mean to open a can of worms, much less have you forum veterans against me. I like you guys, which is why I frequent this forum. It rubbed me off the wrong way, hipsters are those too kool 4 skool guys who wont give you the time of the day unless you meet their standard of a cool phenotype. (If youve had any constant exposure to cities like San Francisco or Portland you'd know who Im talking about)

PS
@madmonday Im not too active on this forum but I lurk.
I enjoy reading your opinions and insights!! -
Love this thread, would love to contribute to it but I might make myself unpopular. (does that count?)

Bring it @Nomad! 2 years ago I called soccer -sorry, football- the sporting equivalent of a 90 minute cystoscopy while receiving electroshock therapy and most of the hate mail has died down… well, someone sent me a bag of dicks but that could be wholly unconnected.
Except the Germans. Man, they take their sports serious. -
I've only been in SESF once on vacation and I have nothing but good things to say. I brought the wife with me and she tried on ~20 pairs of denim before she settled on some 3sixteens. We met Kiya, he was as nice as could be and chatted us up for a good while. I kept hounding him to open a Self Edge in Austin which won't happen but one can always dream. I'm sure this is a popular opinion, just wanted to share my experience.

I think you good @tropicall15 , the forum happens to be filled with loyal people; so, they are going to stand up for a person/vendor they have had good experiences with.
I've had different experiences in & with Self Edge staff over the years, but what always stayed with me was a friend of mine, a really big guy at the time went into the store & was ignored. This person isn't thin skinned & is an all around great guy (from my experience) so that falls in line with @tropicall15 's experience.
Over the years this friend has always pointed out to me the way it made him feel when he was treated that way, and although I have had mostly good experiences, & genuinely like Andrew of 3sixteen fame & the old long departed guys of SENY I get that my friend had a bad experience & even now go into the store with my guard up a little bit.
Lucky for me I just happen to light up a room when I walk into it & am usually dressed in so much made in Japan gear that the staff knows that I'm part of the club, hahhahaha

I've been to SESF, first time Sept.2014, I walked in totally unknowing what their jeans were about. I worked with Eugene, who was extremely helpful, and after describing what I would like in jeans, him telling me they wouldn't shrink and explaining what this new denim to me was all about, I walked out with a pair of 633's went back the next day and got another pair of jeans and the 526J. I've been back there 3 times since, always with Eugene there as help, who always went out of his way to be helpful. There were always other customers in the store, that were always treated in the same manner as I was.

Wallet chains look silly.

No one's against you. It's just a flaw of the unpop-op thread. People tend to discuss opinions whilst this is not the thread to do so…
PS: I like your particular unpop-op

One for @Seul , super strong beer is over rated. The sweet spot for alcohol content in a beer is around 5 - 6%
