Watches - another OCD problem
-
There's a decent one in the Burlington arcade in Piccadilly (if memory serves) though may be quite pricey! Failing that there used to be a really good pawn shop on the Fulham palace road that used to do great deals. Pawn shops can often be a good shout in my experience.
Thanks @Cutlasshound! I will be sure to check these out when in England next month.

A pleasure mate. Sorry couldn't be more helpful!

I'd avoid Burlington Arcade because they're sodding expensive.
Watch Arts in Chichester are just up the road from Gosport, and have a decent range of vintage pieces. I'd suggest one of the Omega RAF watches they've got in stock.
Watches of Knightsbridge run regular auctions, the next is on 12th July, which is Fish and Chips. You might pick up a bargain there.

Some nice pieces in that auction! Thanks @Graeme!

@dylantbmayes take a look at the IWC and Omega Mark XI / RAF watches from the 1950s. Both can be restored to an as-new condition by their respective factories.
@Snowy the Activité is going to sell for $390 according to Hodinkee and aBlogToWatch.

The two tropical Tudor subs caught my eye

At the airport in India. Tempted by a Tag Aquaracer for £1,100. Anyone online and know if this is a good price? Can't seem to find the model using
Google.Depending on the model, I'm seeing the Tag Aquaracer online for between $1239-$2080.
1100 pounds is $1887. So you are looking at the mid/high side of the price range. -
Moving away from the Tag. I have been offered a deal on the Panerai Ceramic Black Seal. I haven't seen it in the flesh but it is new with box, papers etc. Based on images alone this is, in my mind, the most awesome watch ever.
Does anyone here own one? Is it as awesome in the flesh?
Seriously considering selling my Bell&Ross BR03-92 to help fund a purchase.

Hey Matt, read up on those ceramics. The cases have a tendency to be brittle and aren't considered daily wearers even by the Paneristi. The Radiomir is a nice watch though in any form. I had a 308, but ended up selling her for my SnowFlake…
-
Thanks Snowy, but AFAIK I think it's harder but not necessarily stronger. If I remember the thread in WUS, the problem has been around the areas that the wire lugs secure into the case to be specific.
-
The harder something is the more brittle it is. The right strike in the wrong place can cause problems for ceramics.
-
Thanks guys. I'm a little nervous about dropping £4k on it now. Especially as it would be daily wear and I'm a bit clumsy (a few knocks on my Bell&Ross).
That SnowFlake looks nice.
By all means, do some research but that is just what I've read. ymmv!
