Let It Snow!!!! Winter Sports Thread

Thanks, I'm sure the shells were a bit over kill for my needs but if they last for 10-20 years then it doesn't really matter the cost. What sold me was the inside was as beatifully finished as the outisde.
Still sleeping in the van, the only had part is getting up in the morning, everyhting is easy after htat.
Had my first real crash today since being back. I was skiing on the edge of a trail, caught my inside edge which flipped me head over heals down a 10 foot embankment into a large sapling which I caught across my back/head (yah helmets). Got a bloody lip somehow and a sore back. Ah well, whats a ski vacation without a couple good crashes you walk away from.
Bridge is possibly going to get a little snow tomorrow which would be nice. I won't go down to Grand Targhee unless they get some snow, it's 200 miles each way from where I am. I've been talking with people on the lifts and pretty much the entire west is dry. Where I am currently has probably the best snow in the country which is consistent with what I've seen watching the national weather. I was going to be back in MN for the superbowl (Feb 3?) but they I think they are predicting major storms for that weekend so I might extend my stay another week. I have to be back by the 8th. I have some pretty shaped skis (110/76/102) anyway which I've discovered suck for riding powder so I might just go back early and go back next winter with a better plan and new powder skis

I've been at my parents house in MN for a couple days now. I got sick of riding ice out west and had to be home by today anyway. It was fun and a trial trip so I can make a few minor corrections and additions to the van for a longer (and hopefully snow filled) trip next year.
I think they are finally getting some snow out west but when I left the couple places I was at had just turned into slabs of ice from baking in the sun during the day and then freezing at night. Lot of injuries talking to the ski patrol because the mountain was so fast.
Still was a good time, I skied 9/10 days out there for 4-5 hours a day.
The Patagonia movie was a cool watch. I think a lot of gear made now days is made to last. Patagonia was actually my first choice going in for a shell but after touching the Arcteryx shells I couldn't put them down. All my other layers are high end manufactures but were all bought on clearance. I'm pretty much set on gear for the foreseeable future. Just need a set of some thick waisted skis for next year.
Have fun Finn666, ski fast, crash hard

thanks mike! you're totally right, I'm super stoked to have the possibility to jump into the car and to find something that brilliant not even a full hour away from my door step!
(and btw., this was just one of the many many reasons I've chosen to move to switzerland back then. I love skiing and I'm super happy to be able to do it more often now!)more pics to come btw. …still have at least 10 days of skiing ahead of me!

I heard from Z a few days ago he is staying next to Copper Mountain for a month. He said last week. He was skiing in 15"
