Watches - another OCD problem
-
The current watch that is getting regular wear is a Titanium IWC GST Rattrapante chronograph. I have a few watches in rotation but am mainly using this one. I trade my watches every 3-4 years as and when I get bored of them. I don't make any money doing this but it keeps your collection fresh.
As I have got older my tastes have changed. I would currently look to get a watch with a simpler face with no chronograph feature. Never used the chronograph on the IWC and can't ever see me using it in the future.
I know that G has been looking at the Fifty Fathoms and I must admit this is also on a short list for future pieces for my own collection.
The Blancpain Aqualng Leman is a nice simple looking watch as well. Not sure where everyone stands with regard to Russian politics but Vladmir Putin wears one. Not too sure how I feel about this, I guess there are very few people who are aware that Mr Putin wears this watch so it would probably not be commented on.Also using an Omega X-33, tough as old boots and has a very loud alarm function on it which is useful. The X-33 has a double skinned back which acts as an amplifier to make the alarm effective, a neat and simple solution.
The new Tudor range is also looking to be spot on trend for reasonable money. The Pelagos and Black Bay have both hit home runs in my book.

Does anyone have any experience/comments/views of Torgoen pilot watches? I've been looking at them lately, especially the T10.
Edit: having looked into these a bit closer,I like the T17 and T32 automatic models.

I don't have any experience with them, but they look ok. I wouldn't recommend the quartz model, simply because it has a mineral glass crystal, and I always scratch those within minutes of strapping the watch on.
If you like them and can find one at a reasonable price, (I always buy on the used market, personally) then I don't see anything that screams, "Stop!"

I decided to try out a bracelet on my Mid Pilot. I'm liking it so far. Nice alternative to a nato strap.

What do you guys think of the Seiko Astron? It will be my next watch hopefully later this month.

I've found a watch that might survive Giles.
It's the Swiss Military Watch 20,000 Feet. You can shoot it with a shotgun…
Or blow it up with explosives…
And it'll keep on running. :o
The only trouble is that it's enormously fat.

Can it survive under the wheel of G's padmorewagon on a gravel driveway?
-
Yeah it's Mickey Mouse, but it's also a Japanese made G-Shock with only 3000 made for Tokyo Disneyland. I love Japanese domestic watches!

I dont know how much custom straps are in the UK but mine cost about GBP100 in plain leather. Here is the link to his website. Checkout the gallery for some watch candy:
