I recently made my first IH purchase using a USA issued credit card and got hit with foreign transaction fees eventhough all the prices on www.ironheart.co.uk are in USD. I called up my credit card company and they told me that if IH is processing their transactions via a non-USA based bank, then I'll get hit with these fees all the time I make a purchase. That beats the whole purpose of buying from IH's website and paying in USD.
Has anyone else experienced the same while making purchases from USA?
Thanks for your help.

I use PayPal and have never had an issue ever

Thanks derivative666.
I used PayPal for this transaction too, but here's how it went: I partially paid via my PayPal balance (since it was not enough to fund the entire transaction), then the remaining amount was paid via my credit card stored in PayPal. When you use PayPal, do you just use your PayPal balance to make the payments? I think if you did that, then such issues would never arise.

You're not paying in USD. You're paying Giles the USD equivalent to the price in pounds. I always use PayPal too. If I don't have the balance in PayPal it draws from my bank account in cash, never on credit. If you want to avoid the foreign transaction fee either pay when you have the cash or buy from selfedge. Either way if you buy on credit aren't you going to get hit with fees? And can you really even complain about some minuscule fee when you're buying 300 dollar shirts and 300-500 dollar pants on credit??

Thanks. What if I purchased directly via my credit card (no PayPal)? Will I still be charged fees? My discontent is not about the miniscule fees…its about the fact that if all prices on IH's website are displayed in USD, then that's what I should be seeing on my credit card statement without any random foreign transaction fees.

OK. But you still keep it in UK based banks right?
Sherdil, I think this is an issue you would have to read about from your credit card provider… really not familiar with credit cards to be honest. Doesn't matter what currency you pay for if the banks the money goes into are in fact foreign banks, right? -
Guys (and girls), I have been running the Heavyweight Denim Championship over on Superfuture, which has been an immensely successful, and popular competition. The first competition has featured a variety of denim from 17oz upwards, and from a wide variety of manufacturers, the most popular of which by far was Iron Heart.
The competition was kindly supported by Self Edge, with a variety of prizes offered by Kiya, ranging from a free "getting drunk" session with Kiya, to store credit, to a custom one off pair of jeans from Self Edge. Also, we have the "Heavyweight Championship Belt", provided by our friends at Obbigood label, which will go to the winner of the competition
The first competition is due to end at the end of February next year, and the second competition will begin the following day for a further 24 month period. What I would like to do is cross run the competition between Superfuture, and the Iron Heart forum, updating both threads with announcements, pictures, and "Special Events" throughout the 24 month period.
My question is, if I were to do this, would any of you guys potentially be interested in signing up for the competition?
If so, great, if not thats cool too I just wanted to offer up the option to my closest internet buddies
I will post up more information if there is sufficient interest.
