It's very distressing when I see a mother telling her crying infant to shut up at the grocery store. Not cool

^ If the child was actually an infant I would have said something to her.

It was an infant. She had him in one of those portable baby carriers inside the cart. I also saw a woman swearing at and scolding her child one time at Target….very loudly. Felt bad for the kid who couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 years old.

In Gosport, she'd have a cigarette in one hand and a mobile phone in the other, whilst rocking the pushchair with one of her (probably 6-toed) feet and give the poor kid grief for interrupting her. I saw that here, true story….
Even the six toed part? You should have asked her if she could spare one

I'm living in Australia on a visa that grants me permanent residence for as long as I want.
However, I need to get a Resident's Return Visa (RRV) to enter the country should I leave. My old one expired shortly after the Kanreki last year, and I was planning on applying for citizenship around about now instead.
My plans got scuppered, because I need to be in the US for a funeral at the end of next week.
I phoned up immigration today to see what the processing time for an RRV would be, and was told that I could wait up to 47 days, nearly seven weeks. Oh, and I can't get back into Australia without one.
Given I've been in Australia long enough over the last few years to qualify for a five year visa, haven't committed any heinous crimes, and haven't changed my name or address, it should be possible to do it automatically.
So, I might be stuck overseas for six or seven weeks. Oh, look, Fish and Chips is on in eight weeks…
