1955S - 21oz Selvedge Denim "1955" Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
Hi Giles and everyone else!
I got my 1955s on Monday, and I'm really pleased with them. Last time I wore a new pair of Iron Hearts was back in 2007, so I was really excited to receive a new pair. I had forgotten how heavy and stiff these jeans are when new I could probably write a page on why Iron Hearts are so great, but I guess most of you guys know. What's unique about these though is that the back pockets are lined and the belt loops are sewn into the waistband. My OCD is satisfied, indeed
I am about 6'1" tall and weigh around 220lbs. I wear a 34" waist in these, just like in most other jeans that fit me. I got this pair hemmed to 35" (thanks Giles), and they are rolled up 4 times in the photos.
Here's me wearing my long ago retired SExIH03 in a 33" waist, just for comparison:

Sorry, but this question gets asked loads of times. If the 1955S flew off the shelf like other cuts, them I'd consider other denims. The 1955 has some true believers, but not enough yet to convince me to invest another $10K in a speculative run….
which leads to the following question: how many preorders do you need? In other words, how many do you need to sell to press the green "GO" button
Can we kickstart it?

Since my last IH jean purchase (555''s) I have seen the light and am dying for this cut more than any jean I have ever bought. (50shades fit is exactly what i was lookin for) I look and read countless Levi's vintage articles just about every day. I went to the LVC store in the city last week and was like a kid in a candy store. That said even though I was star struck at the overall layout of the store and the history of Levi's early denim, I of course thought of Iron heart & the 634's. I was wrong the IH1955's are LVC's evil more talented big brother. I mean 12.5 oz denim although good enough for miners isn't good enough for the 21oz IH Army.
Now a quick question and i'm not sure if this was ever asked but why does the hem jump from 8.2in to 9in in the tagged 34 & 36 waist's? I would also love to have these back pocket stitching again. I know people hated them but they are doing it for me

On the hem question not sure if I even need that answered. I saw that 50 shades wears a 34 in these and is 10 pounds heavier than i am with a similar build. I think I could probably get into a 34 i guess. My waist which over the last year and a half has ballooned from a measly 16.5 flat to a new high for me at 18in flat.

Wow,that was my first post
Don't take it personal U just happened to be 1 of maybe a thousand with that same question. Hope u weren't insulted buddy? Keep coming back!…as they say in A.A.

That back pocket arc is from the collaboration jean with Aero Leather and was exclusive to them. Since the relationship with Aero is ended, that arc is dead, too. Sorry, you'll just have to live with the standard IH arc, unless you can track down some used or deadstock pairs.
The hem size jump is a little erratic on this model, but it's pretty normal for hems to increase .25 to .33 inches per size, just to keep the overall silhouette consistent. Since there's no size 35, the jump is a little more pronounced from 34 to 36.
(That's my guess, anyway. Giles would have the expert answer.)
Oh, and my sympathies on the weight gain. Having kids is hell on the waistline.

Thanks a lot I totally forgot those were Aero collabs but I did know that marriage blew up once they made some ridiculous Iron Heart comparisons .

I've just re-measured and updated the Sizing Chart. T'was just a few very slight changes.
