Ok, thank you Giles

@Oaktavia I remember when you got these and were unsure about them. I thought they would suit your style and mould to you, and fuck me if that isn’t exactly what happened. You’ve made them yours and they look spectacular. 21oz magic.
I'm glad I stuck with them. I remember looking down at my legs while sitting on my porch the other day and thought damn these fit me so much better now. Been wearing them every day for 48 days.

Really nice @neph93 . Thanks for taking the time to post clear photos like these. Nice demonstration of how patience is clearly a virtue for the 21oz.

Hello everyone, Im wanting to order a pair of these awesome jeans but I'm not sure on the size. I normally wear size 36 in mostly every other jean but they all are mostly stretch jeans. I have a pair of Mott & Bow jeans which I used to follow the measurement video posted on the site, according to the site's measurements they're the same as the Mott & Bow jeans but they do stretch a bit when I button them up. Do these have any stretch? I'm on the stocky side, not fat , lost 30 pounds over the course of a few months, trying to lose more. Will these stretch as well? I just don't want to order them if they'll fit too tight. How's the overall fit on these?

They won’t stretch when you button them up as they’re not stretch denim per se,but as you wear them over time they will stretch out about/up to an inch in the waist, but will shrink back up when washed/soaked etc. The published waist measurement is 36.6,maybe there’s a pair with a slightly larger waist, possibly even a 37 that would alleviate your fears about them being too tight. To find that out you’ll have to contact the crew at IHUK. Hope this helps.

Yeah you're right, I measured a pair of Kato jeans (another Japanese denim brand) and its the 38 I need.. Bummer I was hoping I could fit into a 36 lol

Just to be clear, these will stretch out an inch in the waist. Maybe as much as 1.5”. From new that will happen relatively slowly, over the course of one week’s daily wear, for example. As Jett says, they will shrink back with a wash, but will stretch back out again very quickly after that. Probably in the course of a day.
I know I need a waist around 34”. Next time I buy 21oz I will look for the the tag size that measures around 33” in the waist. They’ll
Be a little tight the first week, but after that perfect. One other thing I always warn people about with the 555 is the thigh. They are quite slim and taper meaningfully from the top of the thigh to the knee. So do check your thigh and knee specs before you order.

Thanks for the heads up, I got an email from Adam when I placed the order and he said that the 555-01 is actually a 39 inch waist in the 38 size which will be too big, I asked him for the actual size of a 36 so i'm waiting to hear back, which won't be till tomorrow since they're in England. If the 36 fits more like a 38 then ill just go with that one.

Well bad news fellas, I ended up ordering them and had them hemmed. Sadly I can't even button them up. 38 was definitely my size. My fault. Now I can't even use them or return them, anyone interested in buying them? hahaha 36/31.5

@Richardcard82 I’m sorry to hear that. Not doubting your experience but if you are not used to heavyweight, non-stretch, selvedge denim, their may be one or two things you’re missing. So I’m going to check.
When you say you can’t do up the top button, is it because you can’t get the button anywhere near the buttonhole? Is there are cm or two between them, even when you pull? If so then there is no hope.
However it has occurred before that the thickness of the denim at the buttonhole and the rigidness of the waistband causes difficulties getting the jeans buttoned and leads people to think they are too small. If you can get them done up, even with a struggle you will find that with a few days wear with a certain amount of discomfort, and they will fit. If I understood your previous posts correctly then you are aiming for a waist of 38”. That will take some time and work, unlike stretch denim.
Secondly, how do the jeans fit in the leg? Are the thighs tight, or comfortable?

I can't even get it close to button up. Its a good inch or so smaller then what I normally wear…. I've never worn jeans this thick before, I just didn't know it would be this thick. My fault like i said. Ill have to sell them online somewhere else i guess

Ok… it isn’t unusual. Even with the measuring tables and expert advice, there are different dynamics involved with denim of this type, as you say. I was able to try on my first pair of 21oz IH in NYC, and even that ended badly as I didn’t account for the stretch. They ended up far too big. My next pair were too small in the thigh, and it wasn’t until my third pair that I felt I had cracked it.
There is an active selling thread on this forum. I’d recommend you start there:

First post/fit check
First pair of iron hearts. Waist size 36. Super nice. I havent gotten a lot of time to wear them yet due to Chicago being in the mid 80s. Did a cold soak in the tub to stretch them out a tiny bit and shrink the length so i could get them hemmed. They do seem a little tight in the the upper thighs/butt, and knees, although i always see everyone wearing this exact pair in an even tighter looking fit. I take it theyll soften up more? The only selvedge I've worn before was some railcar spikes but these 555-01s are a completely different animal.
