Question about M-65 jacket
-
hello all,
I am in the market for a nice M-65 jacket and then someone introduces me the Iron Heart brand and I am impressed with the design ( such as inner layer is warterproof layer).
I am living in California, so I am wondering if there is a major material difference between the Sateen cotton and the oiled cotton? I understand the oiled cotton is more "water resistant" because the material, but I am wondering the weight difference between the Oiled version and the Sateen version, also which one would keep warm and block wind? San Francicso is always cold in Summer, so this M65 would be a nice daily jacket from Spring to Winter.

Not sure how cold SF is in the summer, but I'm wearing the Sateen M65 in February in Philadelphia. Granted we're having a mellow winter, but I'm wearing it from 35F-45F comfortably. If I'm on a walk I'll usually wind up unbuttoning/unzipping it with just a tee & 10 or 12 oz. shirt underneath.
There are definitely warmer IH jackets out there, and everyone's different, but you might be underestimating this one.

I have the Sateen version, and for me this works from around 5C to around 15C. I rather overestimated how warm the jacket would be, but no problem since I bought it slightly oversized and can layer up. To be perfectly honest: I would not overly rely on the "waterproof Ventile" inside. While this makes the jacket more windproof, it is by no means a waterproof option in my experience....
