Jacques Marie Mage (JMM) - Sunglasses and Frames…
-
Oh boy. I should start looking into a mortgage before Sept.
Buying a pair for the missus will smooth everything out, @Matt. Besides, you have an international trip coming up and so you gotta look sharp af.
Clearly you haven’t met the missus. If I spent $1300 on two pairs of sunglasses she would split and would take all her
moneylove and support with her. Not exaggerating. -

I am weighing some JMM opticals, so I (literally) weighed some Moscot Lemtoshes that unfortunately hurt my nose after a while. Those weigh 1.3 oz. I have some titanium frames that don't hurt, but I don't like how they stay in place (front-heavy on account of their light weight and my prescription). Those weigh 0.9 oz. My JMM Walkers? 2.3 oz and the most comfortable of any of them. I don't know how much more prescription (mine sucks) would weigh than the very thick sunglass lenses in them, but that is a point in favor of getting some optical Walkers.

I don’t really have an informed opinion as I’ve never worn prescription glasses, but I don’t find weight has much of a bearing on the comfort of sunglasses on my face. It’s all about the shape for me. I’ve had super light blue light glasses that gave me a headache after 15 minutes, but wore my molinos for like seven hours the other day and was fine.

I've never been able to do smaller glasses unfortunately.
Earpieces are a big factor and the Walkers sit in the perfect spot. I am not sure I'll be able to get another pair, but I know they fit and feel right.

Damn, I'm absolutely gonna have to check that out. I love Dean.
Also, I'm basically just bracing for when JMM has a black Dealan frame available with just the dots on the side (not the visible metal stem inside like the Eclipse) and a lens color I like. Heaven help me.

I have the 53s and they are one of my favorite frames. I'm waiting on my GTs and Jeffs to get lenses from 1269.

That’s the Lemtosh on me. Now that I have my Juliens I’ll be selling them.

The BALZAC (pre-order) are 1mm bigger than the Juliens in all dimensions. Not much bigger but a similar round style. Just FYI.

I actually tried to buy a pair of 53s from them yesterday and it turned out they didn't actually have the pair I wanted in stock. C'est la vie I guess?
Oh and edited to add: I compared measurements to some of my existing glasses, and I think the regular Dealans would be a little to narrow for my personal pref. I have a big head.
-
@popvulture Gotcha! Thought you were looking for the regular Dealans. I know about having a big head as well.
-
Yeah I thought I was but decided to compare, and glad I did — I'd hate to order such a nice pair of shades and have to send em back. The reg Dealans would probably be doable, but at this price I'd want them to be perfect.
And thanks for lookin out @atm23

Thanks for the heads up. I THINK I want Molinos next but I need to try a pair. I’m hoping to scout some out in Nashville this weekend.

They have some Walkers I could convert into optical glasses at my local boutique but I am not sure about the colorway. It’s Walnut: a nice dark brown with gold accents, but the gold accents include exposed internals in the earpieces. This looks good on some models but I feel like it’s almost like MC Hammer glasses on this colorway. They have some more Walkers coming in in August, so I think I’ll wait and in the meantime see if I can have my Lemtoshes adjusted so that they no longer hurt my nose during extended wear.
-
I’m with you on the exposed cores — they can get pretty over the top rather quickly, imo.
Like you said, they can look great in some situations, but for some others it’s been a dealbreaker for me.
-
I really dig it on the Hickory Dealans 53s.
I think I might've been able to find some Noirs. Crossing my fingers.
