Mechanical waistband stretching anyone?
-
Over the spring, I’ve put on a few kilos (3-4), and my habit of sizing down 888’s for a slimmer leg has come back to bite me on the (increasingly large) ass. My IH-888-XHSib and IH-888-UHR are the main problem. I can get them on and everything fits fine, but towards the end of the day the waistband starts biting.
I’ll lose the weight again come the autumn, but I wanted to wear my UHR on holiday and it was annoying me. I remembered a forum user from way back (possibly @Haddtoo 555 ) talked about mechanically stretching pairs of IH so he could have a slimmer leg and top block but a comfy waist. I decided to experiment.
Long story short, a garage jack and a tailored (excuse the pun), length of 2x4 is all I needed:
Obviously, the risk is to post of the articulated button at the waistband, so I was careful to keep an eye on it and go slowly. When I didn’t want to risk more pressure I left the jeans under tension for 10mins. The resultat stretch was around 2cm.
Much comfier.

Haha that's awesome!

I tried stretching the waist on a pair a lot like this just with my arms strength while I was wearing them and I ripped the button off. Haha

Also that the right way to stretch the rather than side way, less chance ripping the button
I actually turned the jeans around and tested all directions. The problem with using the jack with the jeans sideways is the strain it places on the side seams. The best way was with the jeans in the opposite position to the picture so the button is in top. Complete control then.

I’ll play
The “jaws of life.” Perhaps in this case “jawns of life?”
337,230 pounds (1,500 kn) of spreading force which means it is rated to stretch up to 25oz denim. -
Safety 3rd I always say.

More like overdose then kill it… plus it sideways no good more chance ripping the button
Like @neph93 was saying did the same, is bang on put my hand on the top to play safe.. work like a charm.I got 1 inches bigger in the waste line. When brought the size was 32.4, they are now 34.

I promise it was just for a laugh.
