IH-NO-LOT - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Tapered Cut Jeans - Overdyed Black

Have been working on our old Volvo this week in these, and it’s been 70-80F the entire week, so I am definitely feeling the weight now.

Gave em a wash a day or two ago since it’s been a little too long since they had a bath, not really an intense wash, just a mild soak/agitation with some detergent in the tub. Was glad to get all the dirt/mud/mulch/rust/metal shavings out of them so I can wear them inside & in cars again. These truly are fantastic jeans, in terms of fabric & dye retention. Every time I wear these & look at my PBJs or Tanuki’s & how quick they lose indigo, I am reminded why I just love Iron Heart jeans. I have snagged the ever loving hell out of these on bolts & metal tabs while working on the car, belt loops & pockets, and have taken it like a champ.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not to be the only poster in here, but I feel like my evo pics would enjoy seeing the light of day. I've given them a soak about once a month, and finally threw them in the wash on low spin in tap temp yesterday, since they had some nice dirt stains that were really set in knees. There are a few thin points, and one tear in the thigh/knee area. The knee area is thin on both sides, and I noticed on my butt of these jeans, they are starting to thin out, so I am probably going to reinforce those soon.

My knee blew out so I tried my best to repair it, against everyone else’s recommendation to just send it back to have it darned (if the repair fails i will, I swear!). These are my favorite jeans & just want to keep wearing them.

Well done! Home repairs (not least red thread sashiko ones) are great. I have loads of respect for these denim wizards and their darning skills, but in terms of functionality and uniqueness home repairs are where it’s at, and unless you keep a dressier pair of jeans for office wear or going out in, why not personalise them like you have?

sethatwork that is a righteous repair.

@sethatwork nice work. Did you use the pant leg I gave you?

Oh that's the swedish serge. Excellent.
Or was it the 21 SBG?

21 SBG, wanted to match the knee patch weight with the original weight, I will probably use the 18oz pant leg on on the butt & the small hole, since the small hole was created by a chisel incident & the butt isn’t as big a problem as the knee.

Awesome.

Did the other imminent hole, next up is going to be patching the tear in my cuff from heel drag, I don’t want that to travel up the leg. Was interesting to really look at the fibers up close, could really see how the warp&weft are different due to the OD & abrasions. Will get a macro shot soon.

Dude –-you might be on to something there.
Im looking at the repairs, and they look fantastic.
But more than that even, the design of the two colors against the black are pretty cool.I could envision even more in other colors.
Secretly hoping you get more holes, just to see more of that patchwork. -

Still have to do the cuffs (another time in the near future). For the butt patches, I used 18oz IH denim that @Filthy kindly cut off a pant leg for me.

Looks great, I love the sashiko-style mending. I'm glad I have the hem cutoffs from my xhs so I can use that for mending down the road
