Tried my hand out (well, knees really) at carrying a brand new toilet seat + cover while on my motorcyle. Good friend of mine is a highly skilled woodworker and the toilet seats at home are crapping out after 16 years. So I decided to ask him to make the replacements out of solid wood. This is the first one he’s finished. Made it from the wood of tree species “paquio” in local-speak (Hymenaea courbaril for foresters like @Matty123 ).
Made it back fine and this is what they look like. Now I still need to go look for a nice set of hinges. I’ll look for brass ones ideally, hope I find something suitable.

Today was the start of the 2023/24 Clipper ventures round the world race. We went out on SAKURA to see them off, our very own @ian72 was with us, he skippered Qingdao in the 2011/12 race. Alex Thomson who we were with in the Channel Islands last week, won the 1998/99, and is still the youngest skipper to have won the race. We had a lovely day....
