@mclaincausey We went to Golden, back in October ,on @Mizmazzle recommendation ,and really liked it.
-
I would love to live there. The brewery and the mesas constrain real estate acreage so it’s very expensive and difficult to find a spot in the nicest parts. It’s far enough away from but close enough to the city to be perfectly situated for someone who wants quiet but access to amenities.
We are in Wheat Ridge, so west of Denver and east of Golden. A great community too with a lot of positive growth such as this new bagel place. But being a tad closer to the mountains would be even better, especially in an idyllic place like Golden with its lazy creek and charming downtown.
To get back to food, there’s a really cool Nepalese place there we recently ate at for a friend’s birthday called Sherpa House. It has been there a while and is an institution. They have really cool Nepalese decor and even a great little store.
There’s also a food hall called Golden Mill that is on Clear Creek. Lots of good food options and the roof has a great view of the creek and the mesas.
And the best place I’ve seen in the state for agave spirits is Golden Liquors.

In Yonkers on business. While tempted by a Oaxacan restaurant in the Bronx, after a lot of long days and early mornings of late my laziness got the best of me. New Haven style pizza c/o Pepe’s FTW!
-
@mclaincausey I grew up in The Bronx, not far from the Yonkers border. Will you be in NYC at all?
-
@Jett129 already on my way back unfortunately. I’ll be back quite a bit I reckon though and will reach out!
-
-
@Karol dang that’s some pretty legit looking brisket. Is that in Europe?
-
@popvulture Yes, but the owner was in Austin TX for a BBQ pilgrimage of some sort, and he also sources the meat from US, so it's as close to the original as possible. Just look at these smoke rings... just writing about it makes me want to come back for one more serving.
-
@Karol yeah man that looks legit as hell! On the paper and everything. We’ve definitely got some places to study here, looks like he did his research well.
-
@popvulture Yes, he did! He is really obsessed with the process and the outcome. I usually come a few minutes before they open and have a chat with him, and seeing his passion makes me appreciate the meal even more.
Here is a Youtube clip of some dude interviewing him (sorry for Swedish) and a bit of a tour around the facility.
-
@pechelman there is never a bad time for a brisket.
-
Unsurprisingly, brisket for breakfast is a totally normal thing here haha
-
@Karol - niice, i'm often in STK business wise, so will definitely go there, although it is a little bit out of hand.
Reminds me of War Pigs in Copenhagen, lovely place. -
@prpx so true about the location, but I forgot to mention that they have their lunch place way closer - https://maps.app.goo.gl/Deu2GwYBkgLc1QYPA
and this is the one Im frequently visiting as its just next to my office.
Please ping me when You are in Stockholm, and we can grab a lunch together. -
@Karol - sure will!
Kista! nice, spend a year working there back in 2004. Ericsson of course. -
A little dinner party with friends old and new. I can’t decide favorites in my current stupor but what a splendid night.
