Ah, right. You need to think about what you want. If you want them to remain new looking then you just can’t wear them in those kind of conditions. But where’s the fun in that?
The salt detergent is the worst thing. The rest is just dirt and water and these boots are made to work in that. You can use the Bee Oil and Bee Seal on the midsoles to prevent water and salt getting in. That is wise. The leather is waxed and will resist water to a degree, but it’ll sit in the top layer (with the salt) whatever you do. A vinegar wash every now and again helps to remove salt. Never dry them with a hear source (wall oven/radiator/fireplace/underfloor heating) as that will damage the leather and the welt.
They are tough conditions to deal with (same as where I live) but these are tough boots. My first custom Boss (oil tan leather) are on their third winter. They look like they are too. But they keep my feet warm and dry and still look great while doing it.

These are sick boots… but a bit pricey though.

I'd put dark tan wax polish on the midsoles and heels, leave for a few hours, buff and repeat if necessary…
Thanks well try this

Consider Fiebing's Edge Dressing, too. It's what a lot of bootmakers use. It's fairly cheap and widely available, though it might be a bit harder for you (you're Canadian, right?).

@Stuart.T re. our short discussion on the RW thread, here are some examples of Wesco Boss/Morrisons with either lowered logger heels or Christy soles, taken from Wesco Japan's IG feed. You should check out Wesco's boot builder tool for custom options, https://www.wescoboots.com/builder/MensCustomBoot.aspx?id=Boss although fair warning, it's a rabbit hole…
Yes I know we frown upon quoting pics and yes I'm a mod but THAT is the heel height I want right there in the last pic. I want the IHTB-BOBRN with that heel height. This is possible correct @Giles?
-
I guess my real question is…to make that happen do I need to initiate a whole new custom order and spec it just to the IHTB-BOBRN with a shorter heel or can we take an existing pair that's in stock and make the heel shorter? I have no clue how this works...obviously.

That is a double midsole with a lowered heel and #705 outer sole. Doable with a custom build fo sho.
And quoting pics is fine if there’s a point to it [emoji1417]
Double mid sole….what does that mean again? I'm such a boot noob!
