My first nagging question :
-
What does "bump" mean on SuFu (http://www.superfuture.com/)? I see this bump shit all the time and I have no idea what the fuck it means.
-
What does "I wanna rep you" mean ? I often see this statement between forum members as well, i.e. on SuFu. I think it's a compliment, but not sure.

You "bump" a thread to the top of the page, since the page is listed by the most recent post

Sufu has a reputation point system. Basically, if you have a good post, people can give you reputation points, and if you're annoying, people can give you negative points
When this forum started, Giles, Shoque and I talked about a reputation system and we decided against it. It can have the tendency to start a popularity contest with the members, a "who's got more points" type of deal. On the other hand, it can be a useful tool to tell someone that…they're being a tool

I agree that it is a bit Sophomoric but at the same time, there is some definite need for dashes of reality on this forum. Don't get me wrong I love this forum and probably more than most if you cannot tell, but sometimes I feel like I am in the Kindergarten of forums due to certain posts. I do not want to ramble as it is a GIANT pet peeve of mine. I do however trust that Giles, Doug and Shoque have nothing but the best interests for this forum so I will leave decisions like this up to them.

Anyway: I like the rep system on SuFu. I don't post though, I just do biz
But yeah… Lotsa hipsters on there and such... I prefer the SF forum... Smaller but more personal... Both boards are excellent to find good deals on, though... I'd say that 95 % of the clothes I wear, are imported from the US through SuFu and SF members...

Point systems, especially with negative dings are childish. You want to know if a person has a good reputation? Check out the number of posts and the join date. Then check some of the topics he/she posts on and see if those posts make sense. Finally, you can use the forum search engine and enter the user name or real name in the search field. See how many times the name of the poster gets referenced and in which context. Takes a little more work (two minutes) but will tell you much more.
I will have to think long and hard of a random question.

Seul, are you always happy with what you receive from SuFu and SF ? I mean, do the jeans fit perfectly ? Or do you end up most of the time selling them back ? Also, I'm curious…do you usually get back what you paid for them or more should you decide to sell them back ? I tried SF once. I bought a pair of W30 IH 634S from a dude for $80. I thought I could wear them boyfriend style -- I do have 2 pair of W30 IH straight cut which I wear that away -- they were the first 2 pair of IH ever bought at Self Edge. But I thought for $80, what the fuck ? They ended up wayyy too big....I mean, a female colleague told me that they looked retarded on me. They were more like a 31. They were also altered to a L30. It turned out that they fit this little man I worked with perfectly, so I just gave them to him. He wears them all the time ! But I decided at that time, that SuFu and SF aren't worth my time. For me, anyway, buying stuff "cheap" only encourages me to buy stuff I don't really need. Since I'm not thrilled with what I got, I justify buying more "cheap" since I didn't spend that much on the item I was disappointed with in the first place. When I pay full retail, I buy few things -- but I LOVE what I bought forever.

I've never had to return a pair of jeans I bought from a forum. It's just a matter of double checking the measurements with the seller and seeing how long the jeans were worn before being sold…if they've been worn for a long time, sometimes they'll stretch out and not want to go back with a hot wash and dry
A good 50% of my collection is bought off another individual, not a store

Shubz: I've never bought a pair of jeans that don't fit me. Once you know a bit about the brand you're buying, and the model, and of course your personal measurements, it's just a matter of checking and doublechecking… Online sites like Self Edge and Blue in Green (with its infamous BiG measurements style, used by most folks on both boards), make it very easy to check on a certain brand or model, and its measurements...
I never lose a lot of money when I sell items... That's the big advantage of buying 2ndhand gear... If you sell NEW gear (say you were 'dumb' enough to buy an item in a store, at full price), you have to automatically give a 30/ 40 % discount if you wanna be able to sell it online, even if it's NEW WITH TAGS, unworn,... If you buy 2ndhand gear, and decide to sell, you might have to lower the price you paid with 10-15 %... Big difference, as you can imagine...
I try to be very picky in the items I buy, but sometimes I just give something to a family member if I do end up disliking it, or if it doesn't fit well enough...
Both my dad and my brother are almost completely dressed with "hand-outs" from me... They both dress a lot better than they used to, as agreed on by other family members and mutual friends as well... Win/ wituation!..If something doesn't make sense, excuse me ladies and gents: English is not my mother language :-\
-
Everything makes sense Seul. Thanks for explaining ! Don't worry about your English – it's just fine. I'm sure your dad and bro appreciate your hand-me-downs ! Ever since I've discovered Iron Heart, I've never had to give anything away because the fit is just so perfect and the quality so insanely high. In my previously Non-IH-life though, I'd give shitloads of clothes (virtually brand new) to relatives and goodwill on a regular basis -- because, I was pissing away $$ on ill-fitting, inferior shit and they never satisfied me in the way that IH does.

Perhaps some re-titling needs to be done ? Sometimes, I'm not sure which of these to post to.

waywt is just about posting a fit pic.
in the "what are your jeans doing today" thread you could post pics of what you have done today in your jeans. from woodcutting over watching a movie to writing an exam.
in the fit pix thread you should merely post you wearing ih stuff so people get a general idea of how a certain item in a particular size looks/fits.
