That’s a beautiful shirt!

How does this fabric compare to the IHSH-218? Softer? Stiffer? Will this shrink any? I assume sulfur-dye will fade quicker/more pronounced than the 218?

I haven’t handles it personally, but the 218 is denim and this is serge. While they are both twill weaves, they are different fabrics. Serge generally won’t have the inate stiffness of denim.

Think it’ll fade more to a washed-out black / dark grey? Or stay black with distinct fades at the action points? Somewhere in between?
And since softer and less stiff than denim, creases should be less sharp?
Based on your initial answers, sounds like this could be an easier purchase to justify to my wife… Something a little more different from what I already wear.

Warning: pedanticism ahead
Denim is a serge fabric (attributed to Nîmes, France, hence "serge de Nîmes" or "denim" for short). This is just a different serge fabric. Denim is serge, not not all serge is denim.
I wonder how much the weave versus the processing and the dye figures in to the differences between these fabrics as it pertains to stiffness, hand, etc.

Am I the only one that jumped on this? Headed out of town so won’t be getting it until next week.
Doesn’t seem to have grabbed the imagination yet. The dark horse amongst showier beasts I suspect. It will be lovely. The way earlier sulphur dyes serge from Haraki-san has aged is simply fantastic.

For whatever reason some shirts are more photogenic than others. The closeup of the fabric is what peaked my interest. I know absolutely nothing about photographing clothes, and I would imagine your options are limited with a dense black fabric.I'd like to see Chesson wearing it while on a bike, like he's done with some other items.

I don't think the bike is going to be rearing its head outside the office for the next few months. The weather has been a little on the wet side and doesn't look like its going to be any different for quite some time. I'll make sure I have one on for the next shoot we do, come rain or shine.
