RE: Belts
Picked up another ptc belt, this time in Olive tea core jfj oak bark harness leather in the 15oz thickness. This leather is seriously thick but also incredibly dense. It's unreal feeling. Here is is compared to the Japanese bridle belt from a few posts up and a bweiss super beast in natural. While the super beast is about the same thickness as the olive teacore, it feels much lighter and it's much softer leather.
Top left is the olive, bottom left is the bweiss, and right is the Japanese bridle.
And for color comparison. The bweiss has at least a solid year of wear and patina while the navy ptc has been worn everyday since my last post.

RE: Photograph and Camera talk
I love it like this @weftyarn. Personally I also like how the kids are almost totally crushed in the shadows and almost silhouettes. Reminds me a bit of Koudelka.

RE: Real McCoys Shawl Cotton Cardigan L/XL
how's the scratchiness compared to a dehen or filson mac?
tried to find info online about it, but came up empty; is this 100% wool or?

RE: Fit check
the length looks ok but the sleeves not as much. Is this supposed to be washed already? The couple of warehouse tee's ive had have shrunk noticeably in length after a machine wash/dry.

Love that last shot @weftyarn. Did you consider cropping it a little tighter horizontally?

That's kinda what row vs sea is doing now but I agree it would be more transparent to do it this way. Good idea imo.
Also I read back through the row judging comments, apparently some of them think that these lower contrast fades look more natural and that they involve less manipulation or intent by the owners. Seems to me bleach and lots of washing is just the opposite of what they value despite them favoring that aesthetic requiring more "artificial" wear and fading.
I've got no problem with washing or even bleaching in general but it just points out the clear issue with the judging imo.

Never heard of high contrast getting referred to as "cartoonish".
But I guess that sums up the row judging. They wanted a totally different aesthetic and without disclosing their judging method before the comp, it's coming as a big shock. I imagine some people would have done things differently or not entered at all had they been transparent. -

@Cents-or-Non-Cents row third place was for sure. She's documented it on her reddit posts. Like I said above, I really dig her pair and respect her for doing her own thing and making her own jeans but those are wild card / honorable mention jeans all day long compared to the others.

Seems like they could open this up to full public voting, charge 1$? to register as a voter, have that go towards the purse, and call that the people's choice or something?
