Spring/Summer 2016 Fairytale Release Schedule

I'll be here, seeing if the Boss even comes out with one of the best shirts this summer. First it was Early April, then late, it is May…sitting here "patiently" waiting even for a tease photo. Can't believe clothing could do this to me!
for which? The bluexblack?
This gear?

End of May is what the latest schedule says, but the title of this thread is what it is for a reason. None of the Japanese I have ever worked with are particularly good at forecasting and Iron Heart actually suffers badly from pushing the edge of the envelope. We often get bumped down the queue at the workshops/factories when a larger/easier run comes along. That is a real pisser, but we don't throw our toys out of the cot because the Japanese garment industry is in such a chronic position at the moment that forcing our suppliers to make difficult stuff for us when they have the opportunity of making easier stuff for another customer may force them out of business, then we all lose out.

Giles, is this because of general pressure from the indo-chinese industry plus Japan having high overheads? Or something else? Given the number of western brands using Japanese fabric, I would have thought things were on the up…

There are a load of reasons.
There is a major trend in Japan towards fast fashion atm. That of course is hurting demand for proper, well made clothing.
The workforce is aging and youngsters aren't moving in. 6 years ago, we would average 8 pairs of jeans per worker per day on our heavyweight jeans line, today we are lucky to get 5.
The large denim companies are off-shoring denim production. E.G. Edwin now have a JV denim mill in Thailand, this causes major issues at the Japanese mills. We make some of our denim at a mill Edwin used to use, when Edwin took production away, the mill lost 70% capacity overnight. -

Appreciate the answer. It's interesting stuff. I can understand that 3sixteen, Hiut, Livid and the like, don't account for the loss of someone like Edwin. That fast fashion thing is thoroughly depressing.

The fast fashion thing is super super depressing.
I watched the documentary above and while I was already into sustainable footware, it really pushed me into finding better, sustainably made clothing.
I am glad there are outfits like Iron Heart who don't compromise on quality and sustainability…however, it infuriates me that some of these fast fashion outfits are making moves that can be of detriment to the non-fast fashion clothing makers

@Megatron's post a few weeks back laid bare my hypocrisy. Think on this.
