- Added by LandoCal126So few fit pics of these around it's ridiculous. Seriously thinking of a pair of Maine Guide Boots or Double Crepe Soled Hunt Boots. Had a few here on the forum talk about sizing but that was to do with the Maine. Anyone any experience with the Double Crepe sole Hunt boot? Or any other Yuk product? I hear you should size down. True for all models or not?
Quality? Worth the rather large amounts of cash you have to part with to own a pair?
Would welcome some help before I take the plunge. -
not sure a fit pic has much value in a shoe or boot
got the maine on the christie sole and suede mocs on a razorwire sole - both size UK81/2 where I am normally a UK9
I think quality is very good, but the leathers are butter soft (although thick) so a big characteristic is that they lose the original shape but mold to you quite quickly - I guess as you would expect from mocassin style footwear
not sure I would invest in any more pairs - for the money I'd probably buy more viberg or white's or similar -
i think it depends on preference. I have a pair of angler mocc's and a pair of hunt boots. The crepe sole is plush and makes you walk on carpet.. ALL the time. If anything downsizing is probably model dependent. While I've heard that they fit big, the 2 pairs i own fit TTS.
They ARE impeccably crafted. I would wait to purchase from a forum before you purchase from a retailer simply because they are a large investment and unless you can get to a retailer – theres no real way to tell if you really like them or not.
That being said -- they are amazing shoes. People are tentative to wear them everywhere but I think although they are no pair of "beater" boots -- they will probably hold up to whatever you want. Maine guide's are probably easier to wear the any of his crepe soled shoes but its really up to you!

Thanks for that. I thought the Hunt bought was way too strange on first seeing it but now i'm kinda tempted…especially for a pair i've seen on The Bureau (Belfast) site (brown wool version). Just can't tell if they're thin or wide etc etc...No idea how they'll look with my normal get up! They look cool with well cuffed jeans...I wanted to wear them with stacks.
The Maine looks cool but I'm struggling to find a Brown boot in half sizes.
I would probably rather buy from a retailer...that way I can send them back and at least get some store credit....forum buying saves a few quid but you can't send them back in most cases.
Ah what to do! Dont wanna waste all this money....getting a beating from the wife has at least got to be worth it:) -
You can stack on hunt boots
-
I don't doubt that hahaha. Just wondering if they still look nice and chunky sticking out of stacked jeans (wanted to wear them with my 634S-B) and not too 'banana boaty'. God what do I sound like….would help if there was a freakin store outside of Paris where I could try the feckers!

couple of quick pics of my yuketens… easily the most comfortable boots i have.. really soft almost pillow like bounce when you walk..
i sized down half a size to 9.5

They look great…think i've been sufficiently swayed! Thanks for that Casey. By the way, I sent the Melton XL back to you yesterday. So looking forward to the Large one!

Sized down a half size so should be ok. Hope these are chunky enough for me. Hoping I can pull them off too!
-
Thanks for that Geo! They look nice….still hopin I made the right decision :o Got the bloody Russell catalogue through today too...mmmm....could be ordering me some methinks...swiftly followed by a nice divorce....
Will try and upload some pics when they get here (will be a first!). -
@Geo:
boots are cheaper than divorces . . . fact
This made me chuckle
I'm also pretty tempted to get me some Yuketen boots, thinking of the main guide boot because the Vibram christie sole looks more versatile to me than the double crepe soles, love the way they look on the crepe sole though…
but i might be the only person who doesn't like the mushy feeling of walking on crepe soles, on my desert boots anyway... unless the thickness of the Yuketen crepe sole makes them feeling totally different and more firm.
From what i've seen the Yuketen boots on crepe soles always seem to lean sideways on the pics in most webstores, i've seen some boots where the left boot is leaning outward and the right boot leaning inward, thought it looked rather strange and it made me doubt they would be very comfortable and good for your feet.
With the main guide boot i'm a little bit affraid they will resemble my RW875 too much when worn, although they are less chunky and more sophisticated looking.
Still i'm not planning to pay full retail, so i'll just wait for them to go on sale somewhere.
Does anyone know of European shops who sell the main guide boot for a decent price?
I only found them at the Bureau and Tres bien (who are out of my size). -

you don't often see much in the way of reductions tho' -
Well I have not actually pulled tghe trigger, I have sent an email asking about the width of the Yuketen Chukka Boot with Hunting Sole. I have pretty wide feet and just want to make sure they are liely to be wide enough for me. I'm a 9.5 c/e in Alden, so am hoping 9.5 or 10 will work for me….
