IHSH-300-RED - Ultra Heavy Flannel Western Shirt - Classic Check - Red
To a great extent, our ultra heavy flannel (UHF) shirts define Iron Heart: heavy, rugged, but amazingly wearable. This western shirt is an exclusive red 'classic check' 12oz fabric, woven with Aspero cotton from the foothills of the Andes mountains. We double brush it on the inside and single brush it on the outside, resulting in a very soft yet substantial, thick, warm and windproof flannel.

…this one!

IMO, classic check is the best pattern for UHF and red is the best color for classic check. If I could only keep one of my UHFs, this would be my pick, without hesitation. @Alex, I'd still LOVE to see this in purple one of these years!
-
What about this?
-
@Giles , I was planning on that one, but I didn't even realize that it was classic check! I was remembering the similarities between this IHSH-300 / IHSH-180 in red, and the IHSH-206 in green and brown, each with the black, white, and grey colorations in them! No wonder that purple one appealed to me so much! But, still on board for even more classic colors against the black/white/grey background in the future, including purple!

Is this a rerun of IHSH-180? Looks similar to me.

UHF novice question here: would you recommend sizing similar to a non-UHF shirt I already own or is it advisable to look for measurements slightly bigger? Thanks and apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. I was actually hoping to try both UHF (and XHS) in person in Gosport round about this time but the nonsensical Covid-related entry rules put paid to that.

Tago Mago my UHFs have had some shrink to them. The answer kind of lies within how you want to care for them. If you cold wash and air dry you shouldn’t see any change. If you hot wash and machine dry, there will be some shrink. So I’d let that aspect push your sizing. UHFs are amazing and from my personal experience I have my XL that I sized for shrink that I wear and abuse and hot wash and dry on the regular. Then I have two in L that I wear for dressier occasions that I pamper a bit more. Just my experience with them. Hope this helps.

Always check measurements for each shirt. That being said, I take the same size in UHF’s and other IH shirts.
Be aware that UHF’s often have slightly different measurements to other shirts. On average the length is slightly shorter on UHF westerns than on their denim, wabash and chambray cousins.
If you find you are in between sizes or your standard size has measurements that look a little smaller than standard then go for the bigger model. These will shrink with a hot wash.

@Tago:
fingers crossed I can actually get hold of one….
Then I just have to sneak it past the missus…
I think setting an alarm and having card details preloaded is a good idea for any UHF. I suspect in this case some sizes will sell out in minutes.
You could risk showing her. I show my wife the UHF’s as there is always a few she really loves. If that cross checks with one I want then I’ll pick it up. Her liking it makes the confession that much more likely to go smoothly [emoji38]

Wise words, and I can confirm that it works. I was looking for a pair of shoes once together with my wife and ended up buying the most expensive pair I tried. And she had to admit that they were the best-looking. Plus I take care of my stuff so it lasts forever
