But compared to the 362 how breathable is it? I feel like my 16oz western does not let any air through
Both 361 and 409 are heavy as hell, thick fabrics. 361 is smooth, uniform and dense. 409 is textured (but not slubby), rough and also dense. Hope that helps...it is hard for me to come up with more adjectives to describe the two. 409 is crispy and crunchy. 361/362 are bendy and stay in position when creased.

I will also say to those considering purchasing a 409, the sample was like a tailored fit for me. It was form fitting like a glove from day one and I only let it touch cold water, not hot water.
With IHs armpits being on the high side with some measurements on shirts, this one was definitely snug in the armpit area. Particularly underneath/bottom of the armpit, so it was not comfortable to wear anything besides a form fitting tshirt underneath. Anything a little loose in the sleeves tshirt wise would bunch up. So if you want to go for a for fitting/tailored look, which many of you folks on here prefer, consider this. The break in process was hard but totally worth it when the armpit fabric relaxed. Took me a couple of months before I stopped noticing it. So worth it if you like your shirts/CPOs this way.
If you go for a more relaxed fit as an outer layer, bearing in mine and remembering the fabric is a heavy as heck 19oz, it will be a much easier wear. I thought about getting another 409 for a shell layer, but I have my eyes set on my 361 next. Either way, this CPO is amazing imo.
Please let me know if anyone has any more questions. I am happy to help and answer the best I can. Stoked for Monday!

Thanks for the chart and @Oaktavia's input, will have to ponder the size over the weekend. Might just go roomy and relaxed on this one.
-
@Cskarev Yep, we'll have this heavy beauty.
-
Is this release one and done?
-
@bluemantra After this release they will have used up all the denim. So yes.
-
That changes everything :man-running:
-
@FlavourFade the 409 is a must have piece even if they would make it again

Basically, we did a single run of this denim for a retailer. Retailer then flaked on us and he did not use it. We did.....

Is it strange that after knowing the story, I want it even more now?
Epic denim, epic shirt! -
I bought a pair of the 19ib jeans back in 2020 that @Giles refers to above. They are fast faders and one of my favorite pairs in rotation. They are still somewhat crunchy today and a brighter blue color than the other IH denims - a great denim overall. Here’s some pics for those interested in the fade factor in addition to those that @Oaktavia has shared above. If you want a CPO, you won’t want to sleep on this one.
-
@John-Galt it's 555 am I wrong? those are wonderful compliments mate
-
@Luijim78 yes - 555. For the jeans, I’m always either a 555 or 666 - depending on if I want them to fit over an engineer / western boot or not. These jeans were not a quick seller and I didn’t realize how great they were till after I had received them. They were sleepers when released and now I feel particularly fortunate to have purchased a pair in now knowing the story behind the denim.

@Giles This might be one of those if you tell me you have to kill me kind of questions, but what does it cost to have Iron Heart craft a denim for you? I guess the over/under would be $25K.
I guess I could work it out if I could be bothered. But the way we work is not like that, we don't ask H to make a slug of denim, pay for it and then make it into things. We get some denim designed and made and then make things from it, the cost of the denim is part of the cost of each thing we buy (and that is not broken down into materials/labour/etc etc etc . The minimum run varies from mill to mill but varies from enough to make 200 things to enough to make 400.

This is the day.. thanks @Oaktavia for keeping us updated and kept making us jealous with your sample and miracles! I’m seriously hyped for this one
